The Boy Scouts of America distance themselves from Trump

The plan was to be non-political with the Boy Scouts, but Trump lacked the basic self-discipline to stick to the written speech, and instead he made fools out of a bunch of teenagers, and besmirching their reputation.

 

And independents, which are higher in numbers than R or D. Which is why the Boy Scouts had to release press statements afterwards.

Independents are collateral damage in the culture wars between traditional, small government America and the secular/socialist radicals.

He could have used more detail on Mormons. In 1890, about 136 years back, Mormons removed Polygamy as allowed. Yet to this very day, some claim mormons accept or believe in polygamy. A good excuse for it at the time, other than it was legal, is the women whom had children were deemed worthy of having a family. When so many husbands were lost either in combat or due to lost lives on the long wagon trips, it left widows. Well, if you have 80 men and 120 women, with kids, why not allow them to marry into a family if the wife allows it? But for that, the women would have been widows and maybe never part of a family again,.

Frankly, though we on the forum are much more "political junkies" than is the typical American, they are simply apathetic. They were to Obama and now to Trump. I would accept that less than half the public really has strong political views.
