My guess is that had the following been written by a white journalist, he would have been sacked from the newspaper.
As it is, this is a black reader's letter that appeared in 'The Namibian' on 08 April 2011.

"ALTHOUGH hard to swallow, us black people despise everything that looks like us. To prove my point, not so long ago fellow blacks who had run away from atrocities in their own African countries were beaten, burned and some even killed by fellow blacks in South Africa.

In Namibia, black supporters of the ruling party Swapo and the opposition parties clashed in 2009 and we still hear of such quarrels or violence just in the name of politics. Through studying history, I have come to learn that we actually disliked one another before colonialism, hence fierce tribal fights during those years. Colonialism united us all in the fight against a common enemy and after colonialism, we saw the rebirth of things we thought were buried a long time ago, like tribalism, regionalism, favouritism, etc.

Although we do not like others from other tribes, we all love things that we do not produce. We love fine branded clothes from Europe, we love American and German-made cars, we love expensive wines and whiskeys, yet no African person brews any of them.

All we own, unfortunately, are thousands of shebeens where we drink ourselves to death, stab each other with knives/bottles, infect each other with the HIV virus, make lots of unwanted babies and then blame others for our miseries.

As blacks, we know very little about investments, whether in stocks, or in properties. All we know is how to invest our money in things that depreciate or evaporate the fastest like clothes, cars, alcohol and when we are at it, we want the whole world to see us. I know some brothers driving BMWs, yet they sleep on the floors and don’t have beds because nobody will see them anyway.

This is what we love doing and this is the black life, a life of showing off for those who have. A black millionaire tenderpreneur living in Ludwigsdorf or Klein Kuppe in Windhoek will drive to the notorious Eveline Street in Katutura where he will show off his expensive car and look down on others.
    ....

Our leaders scream at us how bad the Europeans are yet they steal our public money and hide it in European banks. We know how Europeans ransacked Africa but we are scandalously quiet when our own leaders loot our countries and run with briefcases under their arms full of our riches to Europe. The Europeans took our riches to Europe but our African leaders are doing this too.

Mubarak of Egypt, Gadaffi of Libya, Mobutu Sese Seko of the then Zaire, all had their assets allegedly frozen in Europe. Why do our African leaders who claim to love us run to invest ‘their’ money in Europe? Again when they get sick they are quick to be flown to Europe for treatment, yet our relatives die in hospital queues. Don’t our leaders trust the health systems they have created for us all?

Why are we so subservient, so obedient to corruption when committed by our very own people? Nobody can disagree with me that in this country that we are like pets trained to obey the instructions of their masters.

I am sure we look down when we think of our broken lives but what do we see then? I wonder if we realise how we sell our dreams to our leaders for corruption, misery, poverty, unemployment, underdevelopment and all other social evils affecting us.

How long are we going to let our manipulated minds mislead us, from womb to tomb?"

Do we have black people here in the forum who would feel inclined to comment? I really would like to hear from you.

That picture should compare Ancient Rome with the Africa of 2,000 years ago, as well.

It's unfair to base on what is Africa now, after centuries of cruel exploitation, destruction, deprivation of culture, submission to foreign interests...

And concerning this text, it's the opinion of a desperate man, living in a reality that can barely be acceptable. He and his thoughts are products of what Africa has become today.

If he lived in another times, when his continent had yet hope, his opinion would be completely different.

    . . .

By the way, I'm not black, but an italian descendant.

    The point is...

When black people are given the same conditions as white people have in developed countries, like access to good education, health care, job opportunities, they will produce equivalent results.

On the other side, if you take a group of white people and leave them in those African sub-human conditions, you surely will not get anything amazing or even above mediocrity levels from them.

This is the first I've seen this thread. I think a lot of what she is saying is true.
I'm thinking about what else I could say and what I maybe shouldn't say...

One just have to take a look at the barbarian tribes of Europe during Roman times, to know that this is all about education and culture.

Black Africans have been predating upon each other for centuries.

Lol. I love this picture. Sitting here in Africa. On my wireless internet, my air conditioning blowing, in the study of my sturdy house, with my lovely garden, and the view over the very modern city in which I live, in Africa. HAHAHAHA.

Yup, comparing a reconstruction of a city thousands of years old (with some very barbaric practices in it, btw) with some random picture of which might be a hut on a continent that is huge and has more than 50 countries, proves what exactly?

And that is just the picture. One letter written to one newspaper in one country in Africa, I can ask the same thing, that proves what exactly? So if I post a letter here, written, let's say, by a white guy living in, lets pick, Little Rock. And in this letter he says that white Americans are racist. Can we then take it as absolute truth that ALL white Americans are racist? I am just following the OP's logic here, you understand.

It is. In fact it's a very sophisticated word and I'm not surprised you aren't familiar with it.
It means "to prey upon". It is a form of the word "prey" and "predator".

It is also used in medicine to describe an overtaking, conquering, dominating, or consuming of another.

Here are several sources for your convenience, sir.

    prey
    predator
    predate
    predatory
    predation
    predating

Hope that satisfies you. If not, then fine; I predict you'll survive the trauma of this frivolous disagreement.

I hope I won't oft have to link definitions to words with which you're unfamiliar.

The Oxford English Dictionary does not include the word predating. Predate is a word, predating is not.

Yes, that is also a definition of the word. No joke.

So have whites. I seem to recall WWI and WWII. Seems to me that whites were killing each other by the millions.

Why do you not hate them?

Regarding the OP, in America, Black on Black crime is greater than Black on White crime.
    Would this be because of:

*Blacks' hatred of other Blacks in general,

*proximity to other Blacks being more than to Whites,

*behavioral standards within the Black community in general?

Anyone wanna give an opinion on that?

*proximity to other Blacks being more than to Whites,

People live near their own groups and people do not tend to travel far just to steal.

Here, I'll give your brain something to think about:
Do you agree that length, colour, appearance etc. can very betweeen population groups? yes i hope? Of course, why wouldn't it. if groups are left more or less isolated for some time will eventually develop differences, not necessarily big ones, but noticable. some groups of black people generally have broader noses, bigger lips, some groups are shorter, east asians have their special eyes. Now, why wouldn't intelligence vary? If you think about it, it becomes ridicolous that intelligence would be the same for all groups. Why would just intelligence of all things be equal, but nothing else? nature really, really doesn't care about politeness or equality you know. And this variation intelligence between groups may be why some develop whilst other do not. Among other factors of course.

Bwahahaha. South Africa is not a real Africa. Let me make my question to you more clear - South AFRICA is not real Africa. You know, the country on the southern point of Africa, filled with Africans, is not real Africa.

Sweden is not real Europe I guess. Africa is a huge continent, and just like Europe is allowed to be different from one point to the other, so is Africa. So the whole of Africa is not the same, we are not one big country, and hell, not even countries are the same from one point to the other.

But saying South Africa is not real Africa is the funniest thing I have ever read on PF. It deserves a prize. And i have lived in modern world class African cities all over the continent btw, with big sky scrapers and wireless internet, and all those things.

    Still laughing!

If there had been coal in Mali, Tombouctou would still be the intellectual center of the civilized world.

Not far from the current city is a wide palin covered in shards of pottery and slag from iron bloomeries. Based upon the ruined city walls, it once covered an area greater than London in the 12th Century.

To support that sort of industry requires massive amounts of fuel. They depended on wood. Eventually, using that much wood causes irreversible deforestation and climate change. That this would lead to collapse of the civilization is obvious.

The supremacy of Europe and North Africa were purely the result of geology.

Just as the greeks was a leading force in modern times because of it's ancient history..

That doesn't say much. There's been lots of large cities in many places that wasn't that important later on eg egypt iraq.

North america has pretty much the same climate and resources as europe, yet why were the indians so primitve?

Relative densities of populations, lack of an agricultural base, changes of climate.

The Iriquois, when they first made contact with Europeans were fully as advanced, socially, as some of the Germanic peoples were when the Sumerian culture arose. They just hadn't figured out how to put iron ore and coal in the same fire.

The native peoples of the Americas were able to advance rather quickly in those areas where they could raise corn and potatoes. Corn originated in Central America, potatoes in the Andes, at a rather early date.

It took a long time to develop millet and sorghum into a reliable agricultural base, especially since the population centers in Africa were non-existant to sparse for centuries. Cattle herding and hunting and fishing do not encourage settlement under conditions that permit the development of metallurgy and pottery-making.

And do not forget about the coal.

Europe had wheat, barely and rye early on. They had plenty of iron and copper ore, and a lot of wood, then coal, early on, and they sat across all the major trade routes of the times. These are conditions very conducive to the development of a high-tech civilization.

Ancient Egyptians were Africans and they did had Nubian (black) Pharaohs .

What new nations fail to understand is that civilisation flourished and evolved in the region from Mesopotamia to Italy mainly because different people with different ideas came together and share them , none achieved anything alone .
