The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Lady Susan Hussey has long attended St Agnes Church in Kennington, an ethnically diverse area of South London.
Lady Susan, 83, resigned as one of the Ladies of the Household at Buckingham Palace after being accused of ‘interrogating’ Ngozi Fulani, of the domestic abuse charity Sistah Space, about her heritage at a function on Tuesday.
Now the congregation at St Agnes has rallied around Lady Susan and dismissed the claim that she is guilty of racial prejudice.

The Royal Family has been plunged into another racism scandal following the comments of an 83-year-old senior palace aide to a Black charity campaigner.

Lady Susan Hussey, a long-term member of the Royal Household, repeatedly asked Ngozi Fulani where she was from at a Buckingham Palace reception earlier this week, at one point even asking: "What part of Africa are you from?".

Hussey's actions have been roundly condemned and have been accepted as racist by the palace.

Some have argued the comments have exposed an institutional issue in the palace. Indeed, in March 2021 it emerged that the Royal Family was reviewing its diversity policies following charges of racism laid by Meghan Markle in her interview with Oprah.

I find it a bit interesting. The sort of "where are you from" doesn't really happen in the US to black people, although I hear that Asians get that a lot. But in this case, it sounds like it was a totally legitimate question. She is of Caribbean origin, but has changed her name to something African sounding and cosplays in bizarre African dress. So why is she surprised that someone asks where she's from? She's trying to look like she's from somewhere else.

A good article:

Asking someone where they’re from is possibly the most common global icebreaker question.
This is the same woman who accused Camilla and Charles of domestic violence towards Meghan in a tweet which is a shocking unproven claim a bit like Meghan’s claim about racism towards her unborn child.
In March 2021 Ngozi sent out this tweet: “Our charity supports black women DV survivors. I can't stay silent about this. I admire Meghan for speaking out. According to clear definition, it seems Meghan is a survivor of DV from her in-laws. PS, I'm glad hypocrite Piers left ITV.”
This is someone who already has an agenda which has somehow been ignored. Listen to them on the established media.
I’d be asking who invited you, how did you memorise this conversation, what about the tweet and your association with BLM. It was like Oprah all over again.
Where is your due diligence on this woman for goodness sake? Are you blinded by the race card you can’t ask any questions?

A question She’s clearly comfortable answering because on her biog she gives the game away in the first few lines. AND she’s more than happy to ask it to those who come to her charity because you have to be of African or Caribbean heritage before she'll help
In the Telegraph Ngozi says: "If you invite people to an event against domestic abuse and there are people from different demographics I don’t see the relevance of whether I’m British or not British’"
That’s a good point actually, Ngozi, why should it matter. But your charity seems to think it does, it will only help African and Caribbean people, that to me is racist in itself.
This is what it says on her charity’s Facebook page: "Sistah Space is a safe venue dedicated to African and Caribbean victims/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and is staffed and managed by volunteers."
Can you imagine if the charity said only white people, I bet she’d be the first to complain.

Frankly I’m embarrassed about this woman. Asking once, or even rephrasing and asking again should have been the end of it. Pushing it further than that may have not been racist, but it was without a doubt, rude.

Ngozi was obviously baiting a trap. I have no respect for people who do things like that.

But in this case, she was given almost no time and there was no serious attempt (how could there have been in a couple of hours?) to establish the facts. That was unfair.
The Palace announced that the conversation had been “deeply regrettable”. Given its incomplete state of knowledge, that was unfair too.

In defence of Lady Susan Hussey

Lady Susan Hussey resigned from the Royal household yesterday after 60 years of loyal service to King and Country. Lady Susan, who is 83, has survived world crises, royal scandals and machinations and the death of her friend Queen Elizabeth, to whom she was a beloved companion and longest serving lady in waiting. But she could not survive a meeting with the activist Ngozi Fulani and the arbitrary ‘rules’ that apparently now govern 21st Century social discourse.
Ms Fulani, the British born head of a London charity, who was attending a function at Buckingham Palace to draw attention to violence against women, says she felt ‘trauma’ and ‘violated’ after Lady Susan asked her which part of Africa she was from. Ms Fulani posted the exchange on Twitter, and despite claiming she had no desire to ‘name and shame’ tweeted Hussey’s initials for the benefit of the press, just in case we journos were being thick.
The walls of the temple then came down on the elderly miscreant. Prince William, who is Lady Susan’s godson, expressed ‘disappointment’ in his long-standing benefactor and elder, and the Palace denounced the incident as ‘unacceptable’. But what is more ‘unacceptable’? To publicly condemn and dismiss an 83-year-old for showing curiosity about someone’s heritage? Or for dispatching a loyal, grey-haired servant with such cruel haste, without even the benefit of a day’s grace? I incline to the latter. But then I am prejudiced, I have known Susan Hussey since I was 18, and if she is a racist, then I am an ornamental fountain.
Her sin, if there was one, was being old. Most pensioners are unfamiliar with the wonders of woke etiquette and its pitfalls. There are new strict rules governing what used to be called ‘making conversation’. In asking Ms Fulani where she ‘really’ came from, Susan Hussey was merely repeating what people like her and my late father used to say.
When my parents met in the early 1960s, the first thing he asked my mother, who is Hungarian, was ‘where are you really from?’ Really. People of Sue Hussey’s generation did not grow up in today’s multi-cultural Britain. This might make them old fashioned, but Ms Fulani, who is a sophisticated media performer and the head of a charity, might have acted with some grace.

Some good questions:

I’m wondering why she even went to the Palace if she has such a low opinion of the royals. Ms Fulani has said she felt “violated” after Lady Susan’s repeated questions about where she was from. But is it not conceivable or understandable that Lady Hussey was confused by her outfit?
Ms Fulani has publicly stated she loves wearing her African attire. She has also talked about being her “full African self”. Moreover, she was invited to BP because she’s the founder of Sistah Space, an initiative which supports women of African and Caribbean heritage.
Is there really not a sliver of space here to give Lady Susan the benefit of the doubt? Because there should be. Didn’t it occur to her that Lady Susan’s job is to find out who people are and where they are from before they introduce them to the Queen – in this case Camilla.
I hear that Ms Ngozi is upset. But does she honestly see what Lady Susan did as “abuse”? It’s a very inflammatory word which suggests she thinks it was intentional and I don’t believe for a second it was.

There was a bit of the old game-playing going on. The black woman was British but her ancestry clearly was not. The first line on her website is “my parents came to London from the Carribean”. So proud is she of her heritage that she chooses to illuminate it at every opportunity, except when asked about it by an elderly white aristocrat.

One can’t help thinking that a point was being made. But what was the point?

The point seemed to be that black people face racism from white people wherever they go. This is the narrative pumped into schools, including our own Catholic schools. A narrative rooted in Critical Race Theory (CRT), a narrative that says white people are always and everywhere racist whether they are aware of it or not, that says black people are always and everywhere victims of racism whether they are aware of it or not.

Let's put it this way:

Asking somebody where he or she is from, is NOT racist.
But a charity that only helps women of one race and not women of an other race is clearly racist.
Ngozi Fulani runs such a charity.

Where in that linked article does it say she wasn’t invited?
Where in that article does it say Hussey was forced to move hair away and speak the words she spoke?
Hussey behaved in a racist way in an attempt to pin down the validity of Ms Ngozi’s existence.
The article attempts to vilify the victim of racist behaviour and create a false narrative that the situation was somehow engineered.
