Read a little about it, wanted to know if there were any out here with any actual experience with it. What pit falls are there to avoid and such. My interest is to access other, more credible news outlets that do not suffer the censorship and political correctness in common blogs and the MSM. Primarily interested in seeing the remains of wikileaks and similar sites.
Do not go to deep web. I have had some limited experience with it and various TOR stuff, and from what I was able to gather, other than some light "under cover communication" abilities (often used by drug dealers and tech savy civilians), there is nothing good there. Imagine the darkest places of a third world country, except on the internet, and you have the deep web. Commonly found pages include: child porn sites hitman sites (some are real, many are fake) Sites selling black market weaponry including fully automatic assault rifles and explosives Taliban and other terrorist forums/web pages drug trading/selling sites (trading/selling usually done through silkroad (AKA the ebay of drugs and other illegal things) often for bit coins and even gold), and other depressing horrible stuff. Also, since so many criminals use it, a lot of the websites set up there are actually traps laid by the FBI and various other countries intelligence networks set up to catch the dumber criminals.
Selling and buying spiffy weaponry and drugs and such doesn't so much bother me, but neither does it really interest me. The other stuff I'll be clear to avoid. My main interest is political information and secure communications.
