Now that the election is over, it is time to Save American Democracy.

We'll all benefit (fundamentally) from the following:

sounds good to me. But you must also include unions to make it fair for everyone. Other than that I agree 100%.

Rise Against... WHY do you dislike what I have shared? (I don't mind the 'dislike', just wonder why?)

You do know there is a reason why corporations are legal persons right? It's so that you can sue the corporation instead of suing every person with a stock in the company. There may have to be another term to use for them but right now that's the best one under the law for that reason. The last one sound interesting but that may give more power to other entities as it wouldn't be the first time they set up another program to deal with things like the FED and people are not exactly that happy about that.

corporations are simply groups of people; why should their individual right's be removed just because they co-operate? corporations simply have all the rights we as people have when we assemble. If you think about your stance you'll see how ridiculuous it becomes. Why should you as a private person be able to give money to a political campaign but when you and 30 other people want to do it as a group it's illegal?

They do not need to be treated as persons to deal with the things they must; not really. There needs to be some OTHER category.

Certainly, what you've related above, does not justify corporations having the dominant voice they do by virtue of access to "money". Take care of 'business' indeed... but don't allow them to influence elections with the cash at their disposal. That is just a mess we need to clean up NOW!!

No, I may disagree with you, but I'm in no way being "ridiculous".

If you don't see the inherent problem of NOT setting limits in all of that, I don't know what to tell you.

An individual should be allowed to donate (that's it); and there should be limits.

Wealth should not dictate election results; campaigns should be financed enough so that they can be reasonably carried out. The MONSTER we have taking place here in America right now... needs to be reeled-in period.

We are a Constitutional Republic as a nation; I know. Yet, we are a democratic society; that is obvious enough.

Even so, at the practical level, we know that excessive money dumped into our political system isn't good. Regardless of the labels one wishes to apply... I'm of the belief that one person, one vote is the best we can do, and I will tirelessly advocate for laws supporting whatever brings us closer to that reality.

Bernie Sanders' proposal isn't 'perfect'... but it would be far better than what we have today.

Johnny - i am a Constitutional Conservative. More accurately a Minarchist. These kinds of actions historically do not favor far right wingers. So I oppose it.

But it isnt that simply. Its personal. I oppose you and your ilk. I want your people to suffer Johnny.

I guess that explains why the government has the responsibility to prevent people's death by bailing them out.

Nah man, not buying that notion.

Money CORRUPTS enough things; our politics/elections need to be cleaned up.

I'll be advocating for this law.

This President will have to be pushed. You need to constantly remind him that he owes you. The American people gave him victory when big business was throwing billions at the Republicans to get him out. Don't let him forget that.

Yeah, you're correct!! I WANT Obama to continue flashing his political fangs. I'm for bi-partisanship, but not the version where the Republican-extremists hold the nation hostage to force the President to give in.

The scenario has changed; Obama isn't looking to get reelected; he's likely annoyed with certain leading Republicans for the obstructionist BS of the last 4 years; and even if Congress does nothing whatsoever... something very important gets better (taxes increase on the right people).

In any case, the President is politically in a better place than he was in 2008. And the obstruction of the Republicans will be less and less effective, as they will be replaced one-by-one over time.

    Extremists SUCK!!!

They KNEW that Mr. Etchy-Sketchy, Mint-Raw-Money, was an economic path to NOWHERE (even over the long term).

Even so, Bernie Sanders has an important solution to a massive problem to share with the American people!!

Abolishing corporate "personhood" provides government no avenue to levy taxes on corporate profits
and no avenue for persons damaged by corporate negligence to seek redress.

Corporations DO NOT need to be PEOPLE to pay their fair share in taxes. And certainly we don't need all the MONEY we saw flowing around this last election, to be doing so in future elections.

In the meantime, lobbyists should NOT be wielding cash around our politicians either.
