The article goes on to prove why Colin Kaepernick ought to sign with Google (thuroughly amusing). I posted the excerpt because I thought it was a particularly apt description of Google, even though this article refers to that apparently misogynistic techie's note rather than the much more substantive matter as Google endeavors to ban conservative thought in the name of preventing "hate speech" as determined by SPLC and ADL.

I'm concerned about this too, and posted an article a few days ago.

Google is also limiting search results for leftist sites in an apparent effort to squeeze the narrative to the (corporate friendly) middle.

    It's chilling stuff.

There's plenty to criticise about Google, just yesterday I read a story on their version of "Siri" for Android, the application is supposed to be activated by saying "ok google", but has been found to be triggered by hearing just "ok" (so this thing is running constantly just waiting to hear it's trigger. Once it gets set off, the application may record 10 or more seconds of whatever it hears, this gets uploaded to the cloud, rendered as searchable text, mined for keywords and sold to advertisers. The EU has been confronting Google over monopolistic practices and privacy issues for years, "Not Evil" seems inapt.

Here the concern is over this effort to purge the internet of "hate groups" and I think if such groups were just Nazis and the Klan, then fine, these are unquestionably "hate groups" and they should be kept from propagating their hatreds. I'm more concerned over the reliance on SPLC and ADL to identify said groups, and on the sophistication of the automated process Google is already applying to erradicate whatever SPLC and ADL say is a "hate group" without any apparent review, oversight or in-depth consideration.

I am sure this sight is well infiltrated by our government and others. You have to be a celebrity or politician to be able to make death threats, and be glorified by the media, without a visit from the secret service.

I don't think any "infiltration" is required, Snowden showed us the NSA can scan texts with software that searches for keywords (they choose the keywords to search for). This is done wholesale so evryone's emails and text messages, plus mobile phone conversations all get scanned, searched for certain terms and expressions. Likely logarithms can be used to even account for context. Then they store this stuff indefinitely and when they want to take you down they can simply call it all up and show you are a racist (pervert, nazi, pedophile, traitor...).

Your free speech does not entitle you to the use of someone else's megaphone. Demanding someone else's megaphone for your free speech is a violation of theirs. They don't owe you anything. The alt right needs to learn a thing or two about that before playing the victim card.

It is their product and their perogative. Their governance of the service they provide is not a violation of anyone else's rights.

This idea internet users can simply skip Google and use some alternative is disingenuous:
This doesn’t seem to apply as well in reality:
Seems a bit dramatic, “effectively dead” is an exaggeration, I'd say "critically wounded".
So you have the natural market correction to excessive censorship, entrepreneurial efforts to provide uncensored media:
So the market works, Gab found a need and filled it?
A real market analogy might be labeling requirements, but where the two major producers of a given product could determine if any competitor could label their product as the same thing. Suppose someone making a naturally effervescent white wine from the French region of Champagne, produced in the same manner as other Champagne in the region was denied being able to label his product "Champagne" because he was "pro-life"?
Indeed, Google’s new concern with “hate groups” sure contradicts a lot of it’s most popular content, but I think by “hate groups” they mean just those labeled thusly by SPLC and ADL.
Certain standards ought to apply, maybe the spectrum licensing procedure could guide:

It is not just Google ... youtube, facebook and others have jumped on the censorship train.

    Better algorithms, not private censorship:
The unintended risk is that the private sector will censor excessively:
What recourse does someone banned online have against those banning him? In the US the Constitution protects freedom of expression, press, etc. -but not private censorship.

    Doxxing:
Be careful to avoid including information in your postings like actual name, age, gender, domicile, place of birth, employer and such, remove any of this from your profile –especially if you’ve ever been branded a Nazi. Critical lefties don’t have to worry about this yet.

Because they have claimed the moral high ground (the standard justification of all totalitarians). Let's see how our Prog friends like it when the other side does the same thing one day.

Tip for the child reader: never give the kind of power to govt or an organisation, you wouldn't be okay with in the hands of the enemy.

I realise that involves extrapolation, logic, reason, and long range thinking .. so I'll understand if it's ignored by my Lefty brethren.

That is why you fund the suit in Europe. France doesn't seem fond of Google.

Smarter than backtracking and cleaning up the gormless poop left behind for more astute citizens to record for eternity is not being a nazi dick in the first place.

That might be too complex an issue for some, though.

How "astute" are those citizens who "record for eternity" what makes one a "nazi dick" in the first place?

Google wants you to think it is just another business trying to deliver to you like any other competitor.
