I studied American history in grad school and I'm particularly interested in the 19th century. I don't remember reading or hearing about the electors in the electoral college receiving death threats until this year.

Does anyone know if this has ever happened before?

I actually can't recall any up to this point. I mean, I'm sure it happened before, but in a pre-digital age I doubt anyone would have heard extensively about it. And in the last century, the elector might have shot the one threatening him.

You also have to realize that we never had this many Special Snowflakes before. You put a room full of entitled children with the mentality of a teen-ager together, and this is what they'll come up with.
