The GOP cannot survive as a party that panders to or even "overlooks" racists within

If they do what is going to change in your life? Nothing, it will just be a new set of fools in charge.

Marketing. Young smart black man vs old white guy + biased media + a public who wanted to do the "right thing" = Obama win. And the win wasn't even that huge when you actually look at the popular vote. It was style over substance, marketing 101. It will be studied in college courses for decades.

Never going to happen. Lies and slander are the only things that keep the Democratic party afloat. The only reason they even push the silly "Republicans are racist" narrative today is because they can't be honest enough to own up to their own slavery/KKK/Jim Crow history. The same LBJ that signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 also deliberately blunted Eisenhower's Civil Rights Act of 1957. Why? To ensure the survival of his party. Because Democrats were divided in half on the issue. If civil rights had really been that important to LBJ, why didn't he just switch parties? The Republicans were the ones pushing for civil rights. The only people who were fighting against it were Democrats. Why remain loyal to the only people who were fighting against civil rights? Where is the logic in that?

When are you going to get the fact that denying that racism existsamong conservatives isn't working and isn't going to work? How could I possibly believe that claims of racism among conservatives are "silly" when I literally hear conservatives make racist comments on a daily basis. They're very open with their racism around us white people. Here in West Virginia I see racism every day. I've yet to hear even one racist white talk politics and not be an obvious conservative. Not one. When can we just admit that racist white people are almost exclusively conservative, and racist black people are almost exclusively liberal. It isn't that hard to figure out. How about non-racist conservatives just condemn the racism rather than pretending it doesn't exist? After all, what does pretending it doesn't exist accomplish anyway?

Actually, racist black people tend to be very conservative in their views. They just won't support the GOP, because it's filled with racist white people.

The ironic thing is the racist conservative/white nationalists out there share a lot in common with a group like "the new black panthers".

Where is the logic in that a supposedly racist LBJ would sign the civil right act knowing it would cost the Democrats the much larger white vote in the south, for the much smaller minority black vote? Why would a supposedly huge anti black racist like LBJ want to lose the Democrats permanent voting bloc of southern white voters in exchange for a smaller voting bloc of black voters?

The Republicans? You mean the party that according to self proclaimed REAL conservatives is supposedly rife with RINO's who are "just as bad" as those EVIL Democrats? That's the party that will smash the Dems, eh?

In all honesty, the GOP candidates in 2008 and 2012 were so bloody awful that the Dems could have ran a horse turd and won.

It's going to be even funnier to see which moron they will select in 2016, who will have to both try and pander to the social conservatives, and also try and win a significant portion of minority voters.

You know it's bad for the GOP when it comes to EVIL minorities when even Cubans are starting to leave the party.

But was Obama a good candidate in any technical way? Not at all. No experience that would make him qualified to manage anything. The guy needed at least another 5 years with some actual responsibility making decisions, which would have sealed his fate once we got a good look at him. The GOP had 2 obviously qualified candidates. NO question at all. One was mocked for being too old and the other mocked for being too rich. Yeah, having too much experience and being TOO successful is a negative to be president now a days. Sad....ain't it?

So go ahead and list in detail your qualifications to run for president. Then we can decide which of the Republican hopefuls, if any, qualify.

IMO gorn the OP would be far better off if he looked at the racist in the democrat party starting with Obama, and his lackey Holder who is probably worse than Obama. Then keep on rooting out racist hacks like Jackson and Sharpton.

If the Left were honest, they would admit that they have their racist, just as the Right does. But the Left uses race to divide the country, as they try and do with women, with their talk of the War On Women. MSNBC was a prime example of what the Left does when MSNBC cut every speech from minorities, from their coverage of the Republican Nation Convention, trying to show that no minorities back the Republican Party. How they bring in race where it doesn't exist.

Yeah, you guys have been plugging this talking point for four years now.

They broadcast everything that went on in prime time.

You guys are just peeved that every time a minority was trotted out on the stage of the Republican Convention, the cameras would cut away and show the lilly white audience!

I'm sorry sir, but they didn't broadcast any of their speeches. They either cut to a commercial, or one gave their opinion during a speech. They wanted it to look like it was all White and no minority backed the GOP.

Baloney! Any one with a television knows that EVERYONE always cuts to commercials at exactly the same time.

Af far as it being all white......care to tell us what the size of the white audience to Fox News is, or Limbaugh?

I'm confused. On the one hand you say there is plenty of minority support for the GOP that is purposely disguised (CONSPIRACY!) by (fill in blank) and on the other hand you keep telling us that minorities don't vote GOP because they are all too stupid. I would, and I'm really going out on a limb here, guess that maybe those minorities voting overwhelmingly for the other guys might have something to do with your attitude toward them. Just a crazy thought. Good luck with that outreach.

The Republicans aren't particularly doomed, because they will be soon be kicking the conservatives to the curb.
