The Hill tweets GOP hoping to 'steal' Hispanic vote from Democrats, faces Twitter backlash: 'Racist

…The Hill suffered after an unfortunately worded tweet about outreach to Hispanic voters by Republicans on Thursday.

The news site published an article titled "GOP basks in growing Latino outreach success" detailing midterm election campaigning.

"Republicans are actively courting Hispanic voters in key competitive House districts, hoping to peel away voters from Democrats repeating their historical pattern of investing little and late in reaching out to Latinos," the article read.

However, The Hill’s Twitter account promoted the story as the GOP’s efforts to "steal Hispanic voters" from the Democrat Party…

The tweet quickly faced backlash from users calling it out as "racist" for portraying Hispanic votes as property of the Democrats.

NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck tweeted, "@TheHill spewing racist garbage, plain and simple."

El American editor-at-large Emmanuel Rincón wrote, "These people think that Latinos are the property of ‘Democrats,’ and that if they vote Republican, it's because the GOP is ‘stealing’ their property. For the Democrats, Latinos are tacos, uniforms, without the ability to reason. Modern slavery."

The Hill was stupid to be so racist in their comment. It’s good that they were called out on it. Hispanic voters are allowed to think for themselves and make up their own minds as to who to vote for. They are not the property of one party to be stolen by another.

 

The racist mainstream media and the democrat party recognize the threat to their power of the Hispanic community moving toward the GOP.

 

The left is racist enough to believe that they own the votes of racial minority groups in this country and the media was caught expressing that same wrongheaded viewpoint.

 

Why are rightists being woke now?

 

Or as Jill Biden calls them: The Taco vote.

 

The left lives and breathes playing the race card and now they’re worried about those cards no longer working for them. You watch, if a boat load of Hispanics vote for republicans the left will attack them as racist bigoted nazis who hate women and gays.

 

Even though I live among Mexicans and more mom and pop taco shops than you can imagine, I could sure go for a few Jack In The Box tacos right now. That’s what we used to get in NJ after a night of hard drinking. It was either Jacks, White Castle or China Town in NYC.

 

All the shouting and protesting by the left woke them up. Let this be a lesson for the left to shut the hell up.

 

I never considered "The Hill" to be either overtly "Left" or "Mainstream Media"...
And, obviously, nobody owns anybody's (or any Ethnic Group's) vote...

Calling the left out on their typical BS is not "woke", but rather common sense.

 

There's a video from - geez, I think about six years ago and I thought I remembered where it was so I could find it but let's say it was a Chicago borough. In it you have a black guy saying hey, we've been voting Democrat for forever and look where we are, there's been NO change, what have they done for us cept take our votes, money, and all that? We have nothing to show for it, it's time they stop taking us for granted. I mean, you have groups on the Dem Plantation that are starting to realize the same thing that guy did. What DO they have to show for it? They're surrounded by Dem pols and leaders, there isn't a Republican for miles - so who gets the blame for where they are now?

I dunno if the GOP becoming woke so much as the Dems falling asleep and forgetting who their base was and to actually keep their promises here.

 

If democrats did for blacks all the things they promised them in the past, then blacks wouldn’t need democrats today.

 

And how are we being woke exactly?

 

It would be great for the world if that would happen.

Democrats need to keep the vast majority of their base that are not the bi coastal secular progressive urban elites and suburban limousine liberal friends regardless of their race or gender dependent on government.

 

The DP, thanks to its leaders, has always been the party of systemic institutional racism in the US. The core base of the DP is finally catching on.

Latino and black Americans were very responsive to Trump' message early on. That will not automatically translate to support for the RP political establishment.
