The 'antichrist' mentioned in the Bible was Roman Emperor Nero - the book was mis-interpreted by rapture cultists to refer to a very distant future scenario, when it was actually referring to the present day scenario of the time it was written - of Christians being persecuted by Nero and the Romans.

 

This is really speculation. Many of the 'revelations' originate from the prophetic books of the Tanakh. The writer, choice of three John's, puts them together to produce this book. Whether it was meant to be Nero, Domitian depends when it was written, though it is generally accepted as the turn of the century. The 'Ascension of Isaiah' (Pseudepigraphia) seems point to Nero, but then as with all prophetic books, interpretation is down to the individual.

Yes, I'm sure that you interpreted Revelation to deal with America. What makes your interpretation any different from the other frauds who have likely claimed end times were coming hundreds or maybe even thousands of times in the past two millennium?

The Bible both New and Old Testament are comprised of text written by ancient man that wrote things applicable to their time and immediate perceived future.

People have taken specific lines from it and have associated the words to just about every possibility that they think could happen or is happening.

The facts are that the Old Testament should NEVER be taken literally by anyone and the New Testament was written with many associations to the Roman Empire.

Some parts of the Bible such as Revelations and any association to an Anti Christ were texts developed many centuries after Jesus and again are just the writings of ancient man trying to make sense out of the world and existence.
