I also have a camping wood stove As for eating out in the future after the "insert" disaster here I think of Demolition Man
Some people seem to think that you can only prep for post apocalypse survival whereas my smallest prep bag contains clothing and shoes, eye glasses etc. and keep it by my bed side so that if I should ever wake up and the house is on fire I can grab the bag, exit through the window, and not have to wear one of my neighbor's blankets as I watch my house burn. There are several levels of "preparedness" you can attain/maintain.
skydiving plane hire - $300 Go pro and helmet mount - $400 Funeral service - $7,500 Overdose hit of heroin - $50 The look on your friends and family's faces when you livestream footage of yourself shooting heroin and jumping out of a plane without a parachute while they sit in a funeral home expecting you to be in the coffin already - PRICELESS.
There are as many different opinions about how to prepare to die as there are opinions about how to prepare to live.
Are you trying to equate the validity of other people's opinions with the extend to which they agree with mine ?
I'm still trying to understand your 'preppers are the least prepared to die' assertion. Would you like to elaborate?
Bricklayer is just playing a mind game here. Maybe he enjoys it, but it seem nobody else does. This thread is a waste of time.
I’m thinking that maybe he’s making a religious point? Otherwise not sure what point he’s trying to make
First, it's not an "assertion", it's an observation. I do not have the breath of exposure to preppers to make an "assertion". It's my experience, however limited that is, that to the extent preppers prep, they are not prepared to die. It seems to me that those who prep the most to survive are exactly those who have prepared the least to die. I find that ironic because death is not only the worst thing one can prep for it is also absolutely inevitable.
Most preppers I've met are worried about their families not themselves. Nobody wants to watch their children starve.
When the shat hits the fan even the best prepper with tons of outdoor experience in bad conditions only has so long to go before it's over. But it's more sunrises than they would have had.
I prepare for the less-than-worst and less-than-inevitable things for the same reason. I also try to prepare them for the worst and the inevitable.
Even if nothing else bad happens and the prepper lives out his full life, he only "has so long before its over".
Protein will become so difficult to get we're not talking years. Even in the political palaces they won't be able to eat indefinitely.
Interesting how prepper has become a derogatory word. To me it just goes along with the old boy scout motto of be prepared. Nothing wrong with preparing for some disruption of food, medicine water etc.
They tell me there's people who have studied and trained diligently and then walked into a National Forest and haven't come out in more than a decade. But they have very little competition now. That can change, but they have the advantage of experience and honed skills.
not to be taken that seriously... for "survivalism" is fun, its more like a hobby, in the first place.
Good show called Alone where people try to survive by themselves as long as possible with basic supplies. Most drop out early and the winner usually last around 90 days and comes out in early stages of starvation.
That's how we consider our preparations. On the other hand, especially among those who self identify as preppers, it's my experience that they rarely even contemplate the inevitability of death. There's nothing wrong with that. I just find it ironic that those who are so into preparing for the worst do not actually prepare for the worst. The irony is heightened by the fact that the worst is also inevitable, whereas much of what preppers prep for is, at best, a possibility.
Or, you could just say what you want to say without trying to get me to say it for you. I mean, there is that you know.
Hard core end of civilized society preppers are a different breed. They almost seem to want it to happen.
