NASA has already provided a link so that we can all see the live launch of the incredible James Webb Space Telescope that will be able to see as deep into space and back into time as the "big bang": NASA will go live at about 05:00 AM on the East Coast of the USA tomorrow, December 25th, 2021. And then there will be the month of "horror" as ground control waits to see if the telescope reaches it's pre-planned spot millions of miles from the earth and slowly begins to unfurl the assembly so that the telescope mirrors can come into place. Just a thousandth of a millimeter mess-up between the mirrors can really screw everything up. This is by far the technologically most advanced piece of equipment that mankind has sent into space. Quite a feat. If alol works out well, we will be getting about 50 years worth of exquisite data and pictures the likes of which we have never seen before during the 15 year planned run of the telescope before the last energy cells burn out. Here's hoping for the best.... -Stat
Great stuff. Glad to see that NASA isn't shivering in fear under their beds over the China Virus like so many millions of Americans are, especially in blue states.
This OP has absolutely nothing to do with red-blue politics, so cut the crap. That's not acceptable in this sub-forum and you damned well know it. Shame on you.
Not sure, but the launch itself was absolutely perfect, down to the second. I am suspecting it will take up to two weeks to actually get all said and done and then by the time the first data arrives back at good old Terra and can be evaluated, it will be close to one month. Hopefully we will be getting some updates along the way.
