You're moving the goal post at this point. You have zero understanding of the pipeline industry. These are good high paying jobs that will need to be filled. No, they aren't permanent, but for those that work on it for the couple years it will take, they will make a very good income. You can't discount jobs just because they aren't permanent. Not everyone go to work M-F 8-5. These pipeliners can easily work 70+ hours per week, take a break between jobs, and hit the next one wherever that may be. This is how they work and how they make a living. Next to the pipeliners will be the companies that manufacture the materials needed for the pipeline, the trucks needed to transport the materials, safety, etc. These are JOBS. Stop trying to discount them.

I know when those technologies will become viable if we make no investment in them. NEVER.

    Take a look at this:

    http://thesolutionsproject.org/

Energy independence is achievable. But only if we abandon the idea of drilling for more oil to get there. Trust me, I realize we still need oil today, but I think it's a bad idea to put all of our energy into oil. It has reached a point where conservatives are VEHEMENTLY INTOLERANT of technologies that could actually give us total energy independence, and I cannot figure out why. The best we can hope for is Democratic administrations to fund as many clean energy projects as they can before Republicans throw all the money down the drain.

Cool, then let's also start some projects building whatever we need for clean energy. Who cares what they are making? These are JOBS. Stop trying to discount them.

The Saudis cut production 1.5 million bpd and now inventories are creeping up again to drive down prices. The OPEC basket is only at $52.17 today.

we can't be energy independent but we can pay for canada's socialism in exchange for them being one of our exclusive oil sellers, instead of relying on the middle east where wars are caused for oil.

America just has to work out deals with strong countries like russia on how to divide the oil market, they can sell oil to europe and we can defend our oil producers here.

this will also ensure we can get leverage on negotiations in trade, since we can invade canada and take their oil if they try to rip us off.

Ok great, why are you assuming I am against that? If it was something good for the country, why not? Of course we should be looking into alternate sources of energy. But in the meantime, and for many decades to come, we will continue to need oil and natural gas and the best and safest way to transport it is via pipeline.

You might want to take a look at who the major shareholders are in the Canadian oil patch before you start screwing yourself.

Why. Do. You. Care. If. Any. Oil. Company. Makes. Money. On. The. Pipeline. Or. Not.?

Why do you not answer that question that has been asked of you so, SO many times?

a major military force who owns canada's oil is china, but we can defeat them in war and take canada's oil with the help of russia.

that is probably why President Trump is friends with russia.

an invasion of canada for oil will be easier than far away in the middle east because they are compliant socialists living next door, and china does not have any military capability to send troops to our doorstep.

And I have said over and over that I don't care, but don't be disappointed when it doesn't create 28,000 jobs as claimed.

    - - - Updated - - -

The US owns a lot of Canadian oil too.. Russia isn't going to steal Canada's oil.. War kills the oil business.

using American labor and American steel to construct it will put a lot of money into American workers pockets which they can then spend on housing, cars, and food. Plus it is better for the environment than shipping by rail as they are doing now and will encourage long term growth in the energy field in the area it transverses. Anything that reduces Americas independence on foreign energy is a good thing in my eye, although I am sure you fee differently

    Like those Chinese ghost cities.

They just kept building for the sake of building.

Kinda hilarious until you realize its all funded by our money and then its ...not so funny anymore.

Please name a construction job that lasts for ever.

Edit: And if you or I had one of those 35 jobs and it supported our families it would certainly become a big deal, wouldn't it?

You do know this new pipeline will connect to our oil fields in North Dakota and NOT just Canada's oil fields, right?
