What facts???? Make the list up, you can't just say "I can't imagine" and "I bet it's longer than your list",you need to source things
And you sir, are between a rock and a hard spot, appearing to be desperate in your effort to defend the unholy marriage of religion and government. The founding fathers were far wiser than yourself.
I already know about death and its meaning. It is the end of life and there is nothing to fear. I learned that while in a coma in the hospital, not from faith.
Faith being the antithesis of reason DOES NOT MEAN that a given individual cannot possess both. I use 'faith' as defined by Webster: 2) Belief not based on logical proof or material evidence. I use 'reason' as defined by Webster: 1) To determine or conclude by logical thinking.
I am not trying to make a political point. Obama the Gunslinger is just as barbaric, perhaps moreso, than Trump. My point here is simple: No matter who does it, separating families by force is barbaric.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/faith That definition ? It's just one definition among other. There is 9 definitions, and you took the one which could fit your narrative. I don't say that all faith are logical, and yes, there is many faith that are superstition. Faith is conviction. You can be convinced by crap or by good things. The fact that you might be convinced by crap doesn't mean that the principle of being convinced itself is bad or irrationnal, the same go for faith.
True, unless they are sex traffickers pretending to be parents. How prevalent that is I don’t know, but it is something to consider, especially without documentation.
What started this conversation was my claim that faith is the antithesis of reason. I stand by that statement.
The mainstream media would like that to be true and prevalent, but that is them. I appreciate your truthful statement--neither you nor I know. Sensational "news" stories do not necessarily represent truthful statements.
Decay in moral standards? Moral standard have been decaying ever since eve got it on with a snake. What illustration have we of a halcyon golden age of morality nurtured by religion?
English is my primary language. Considering I've already stipulated that any person can be in possession of both reason and faith, what is your point? The words have meanings, and the concepts we discuss are quite clear. Faith may be a virtue as defined by the church and other philosophers, but most articles of faith require that logic be abandoned.
The statistics were from multiple studies in the scientific community dating back from at least the 80's. They overwhelmingly show more adverse effects for children from single parent households whether it be academically or juvenile delinquency or drug dependence.
So, no fatherless black kids ever attend school? Are males the only one's to grow up fatherless? Girls aren't school shooters either. So, your fatherless family is blown out of the water. Now what is the excuse? Can you make up another reason?
The Founders expressed their faith rather well. They spelled it out. What they feared was the establishment of a Religion. I feel sorry for those that want to quash the expression of their faith.
I was put under during surgery. Neither you nor I have had our soul depart from the Body as of yet. We'll experience it in the not too distant future. Sorry about the coma. Not a good thing.
<<MOD EDIT - Removed Flamebait - Lee S - Rule 3>> ...which is presumably why you felt the need to add this nonsensical qualifier. If it were, it would not discount the supernatural. Reasonable people understand that reason is overrated. Seeing they're both people of the lie, tell us why Stalin doesn't also qualify as a successful man. Almost all of what these guys produce, America would be better off without. An utterly preposterous claim, given that there's no reliable way to measure any of that. Obviously you've never stopped to consider how little the evidence of your senses tells you about the airworthiness of the aircraft you're flying in and the competence of the flight crew and air traffic controllers. If you had any understanding of faith, you'd know that whatever the 9/11 mass murderers had that passes as such is utterly inimical to faith as illustrated in the Bible. No need for that... ...since there isn't any other kind. Doesn't matter, obviously, since none of that has anything to do with morality. Assuming you're talking about subjective "morality", that's a Hobson's choice, obviously. And next time, keep your response outside the damn quote tags.
