What are the most evil corporations that you can think of in existence today? Microsoft? Halliburton? Monsanto? Well, nobody is forcing you to work for them or buy their products. If you don't like Microsoft, you can use Mac or Linux. If you don't like Monsanto, you can buy organic corn and soybeans from a farmer's market or whatever. But now, imagine for a moment that one of these companies DID have a monopoly. That would be slightly above your normal, garden-variety evil. What could you do? Well, I guess you could just live without computers in the case of Microsoft, or cut corn and soybeans out of your diet completely in the case of Monsanto. Now imagine that there's a law REQUIRING you to buy what these companies are selling, regardless of whether or not you want it. You have to buy every new version of Windows that comes out even if you don't have a computer to install it on. You have to buy gasoline even if you don't drive a car. If you don't, you'll get arrested... and oh, by the way, the police have been privatized and they work for the same evil corporation whose product you are being forced to buy. At this point, you're probably thinking "holy crap, that's more evil than Weyland-Yutani and OCP put together! Nothing like that could ever exist in real life!" Oh, but the example doesn't stop there. Now imagine that this corporation can arrest you for doing things completely unrelated to the product that they are selling. They can arrest you for owning certain things, or making certain deals with your friends, or not offering to make those same deals with other people. One day, you go to a friend and say "Oh my god, <insert corporation here> is TERRIBLE! They're doing all this bad stuff and I don't like it blah blah blah" Your friend, looking confused, replies "But don't you own one of the company's 300 million shares? If you want to own voting stock, then you have to accept that not every vote will turn out the way you want it to. Also, why would you ever want to use Mac or Linux? Windows is so much better." You quickly come to realize that your friend might be mentally challenged. A while later, you decide to read the corporation's charter (corporations have charters dictating what they can or cannot do). It doesn't take you long to realize that the charter actually prohibits 90% of what the corporation is doing! You bring this to the attention of your retarded friend, and your friend says "dude, that was written like 200 years ago! Who cares what it says?"

Well, a corporation like this exists in the real world, and people like this hypothetical friend exist too. The corporation is called "government". Its charter is called "the Constitution". These people are called "liberal" or "progressive".

So let's make a deal. Let's regulate this corporation. It can still have monopolies on certain things, like the police, the courts, the post office, and the military, but you won't be forced to eat genetically modified corn or drive a Hummer, and I won't be forced to buy health insurance or pay my employees a certain wage. Does this sound like a fair compromise?

Well....first of all Corn was a Man Made Creation as the Mayan's and other's previous to the Mayan civilization took a plant that was about 6 inches high and had a few kernels on it that look nothing like the kernels on an ear of corn today.....and kept cross pollinating it and attacked it by grafts to a stalk reed like plant and then after 1000 years or so....it looked somewhat like what Modern Corn looks like.

Now...the Mayan's just used a rudimentary form of selective Genetic Engineering....now we do it on a Molecular Level.

You, Me...all of us have been eating Genetically Engineered Corn done on a Molecular Level for multiple decades now...and since no one is growing arms out of the backs of their heads I think it is safe to say we don't have much to worry about.

Now from a seed aspect as a company like Monsanto will Genetically Engineer their crops to be hearty in the extreme with high fruit yield....but they are sterile seeds or kernels.

There are more than enough places for Non-Sterile Corn seed to be purchased and many farms dedicated to growing Heirloom crops....but being able to develop a type of Corn that can grow in the desert and feed starving people....well...that is worth the risks.

Now what I don't understand is why you are referring to Liberals or Progressives in the same statement as Genetically Engineered Crops as if anything it is the Progressives and Liberals who are the one's so opposed to such things.
