This window has been dragged further and further right since the 70's so that even democrats today are nothing more but center-right all the while being flagged down by republicans as radical liberals. Anyone from outside the United States would agree the US is highly conservative. Why is it that people in the states can't see this? It's because of the Overton window. Maybe progressive democrats should start dragging that window back to the center again, despite the political backlash of an overly conservative America.
