First thing, eh? First thing Idi Amin did was nationalize healthcare? First thing Mussolini did was nationalize healthcare? First thing Adolf Hitler did was nationalize healthcare? First thing Kim Il-sung did was nationalize healthcare? First think Ayatollah Khomeini did was nationalize healthcare? First thing Omar al-Bashir did was nationalize healthcare?

It's the window licking, mouth breather GOPtards that are shutting down government.

It is reason enough, but the dictatorial Left is cool with its own authoritarianism.

You mean the real cost of the authoritarian Left's lust for power and control and its reckless disregard for the harmful consequences of its greed.

Or maybe you need to start following conversations... I mentioned at least twice that Congress has effectively "exempted themselves" from the ACA, which is true. Whether they wrote a bill that said "congress is exempted from ACA" or not, the result is the same. They do not have to engage in and enjoy the same ACA market that we do, because they wrote and voted themselves out of it.

There's nothing conspiratorial about it... Obama thinks and acts like a dictator and we've been living under soft tyranny for going on 7yrs.

It's actually historically accurate. "One of the first things..." Don't try to misrepresent what I said. Do a little research and it's amazing what you'll find: http://www.sfgate.com/opinion/article/Dictators-spurn-their-nations-health-care-3833675.php

Bull... They offered to fund the entire government without funding ACA. Obama (just now): "I'm always willing to work with anyone..." unless they're Republicans/Conservatives. Hell, he'll negotiate with terrorists before he negotiates with people of an opposing party in his own country.

They are dumb enough to think it will lead to single payer. When Obama Care crashes and burns NO ONE will be even listening to the Democrats about anything let alone single payer considering Obama Care is their colossal failure.

Do you have insurance with your employer? If so, you are exempt the same way congress is exempt, which is to say, you aren't exempt because you already have insurance, therefore you won't be participating on the "ACA market." If you don't have insurance with your employer, then sure, you may participate in the ACA market. I'm following the conversation perfectly, the reason you think I'm not is because you keep wrongly posting that congress exempted themselves from the ACA.

There are a number of things I disapprove of with this administration and the previous administration, not the least of which is taking advantage of 9/11 to say we need a radical change in security posture. I think Obama is wrong on drone strikes. I think he is wrong on killing Americans without trial just because they are deemed terrorists. I think this country has been wrong for many decades now on the drug war. and I think it's ridiculous that we have for-profit companies running prisons and people are too stupid or too greedy not to see the conflict of interest in that scenario. And I have a problem with a growing police state and seemingly unfettered NSA surveillance. So I guess you could call all that "soft tyranny" if you want, but all of those things are completely disconnected from the idea of universal health care and the bigger idea of a social contract.

If you already have insurance you will have to pay taxes on the plan. Congress gets a free ride all the way.

After the taxes start up, nobody is going to have private insurance.

Why not simplify in order to reduce red tape and that form of socialism, and end the social distinction between full time and part time for befits purposes.

It's the other way around. GOPtards would let the entire country turn into the third world rather than let another party solve a problem. GOP is the party of ruin. They start wars, kill Americans, take away rights because they think some invisible skydaddy is telling them to. Not to say DNC is much better, but at least they tried to solve the problem of 30 million uninsured Americans. GOPtards would rather that our hospital system be used for well visits and broken fingernails, and would prefer some special interest group within healthcare make hundreds of billions of dollars and feed payola to the GOP than to rein in these insane insurance premiums. And anyone who dares compare Adolf Hitler to Obama or any other USA POTUS is a sick anti-semite that is hell bent on minimizing the butcher Hitler was. Obama has no intent of executing races of people like Hitler did; he just wants insurance companies to stop taking advantage of Americans. That's the exact opposite of what the GOP wants - GOPtards want to exploit certain races and the poor in order to line their pockets with the kickbacks of healthcare and SIG's that feed those Super PAC's.

Socialism and a social program are not even remotely related. You should read up on Karl Marx. But I do agree - full time and part time should be offered the same benefits and Congress could force that issue. Then companies would not be able to use part time labor as a loophole for not giving benefits to employees.

A Free Market is a relative thing. When I buy a bag of chips, it would be difficult to number how many regulations are involved, from forcing companies to list ingredients and calories, to subsidies to potato farmers, etc. but, there are a number of vendors, price points and bag size can vary to fit my fancy.

Some de-centralized form of regulation and private insurance coverage would be a good thing in such a situation. We know from Cuba, Cambodia, the former USSR, etc. how over-centralization can go.

Tough to agree with that one. I live in an area with many different hospitals from which to choose and even more private practices. I choose to go to one over another based upon a number of reasons. I'd hate to have some faceless, nameless bureaucrat dictate to me where to go or even if I am allowed to go.
There’s a big difference in current insurances and my wife and I have chosen between two employer programs from which to choose. I wish we could divorce the connection between employer and insurance coverage. Make it more like buying a bag of chips.
Because it will end up being a liberty threatening gargantuan boondoggle of corruption, waste, fraud and abuse. It’s just the nature of such things.
Medicare is problematic and extending it for others further complicates matters. And has anyone resorted to lies about Ocare? Such as?

You're getting off on a tangent about semantics, and that's it. The bill, which is "law of the land," called for them to purchase from the same options available to those not covered by an employer. Makes sense, since they don't work for the Federal government... they work for the citizens that elected them in the states they represent. However, they didn't appreciate that option so voted to continue coverage under their FEHB program, which offers better benefits (more akin to a platinum plan) than most people in the market will be able to afford.

Just another nail in the coffin for America, "land of the free." It expands government control over our lives - it's the only reason they wanted to pass it. Any other reasoning is just used to gain votes and support from the clueless people of this country.

This is why I said you need to look up the history on this. It was Senator Chuck Grassley who thought he'd stick it to Democrats by offering an amendment (prior to the passing of the ACA) that stated members of congress would use the exchanges instead of the FEHB. Much to his surprise, Democrats said okay, that's fine with us. So the ACA, as passed, included that stipulation. Of course later on, and after many cries from Republicans, the Office of Personnel Management ruled that congress and it's staff workers should continue to receive their FEHB benefits, and rightfully so. You can say Democrats were stupid to pass this amendment, but Republicans were equally as stupid to introduce it in the first place. If you already have an employer health plan, you won't be participating in the ACA exchanges. Congress and congressional staff members should be no different.

Did you know that non sequiturs are usually considered fallacies?

    You, sir, are hilarious.

The democrats are taking us straight into 3rd world country status by increasing debt, raising the debt ceiling, getting our credit rating downgraded twice, increasing american's reliance on food stamps, increasing unemployment, attacking capitalism and businesses, embracing socialism/communism, destroying the educational system, dismantling our defensive capabilities, and now instituting socialized/nationalized health care.

The GOP starts wars? Who took us into WWI? Who took us into WWII? Who continued and expanded Vietnam? Who continued Iraq & Afghanistan? Who took us into Libya? Who's aching to take us into Syria?

Democrats love war. Let's not pretend they don't.

Then you have Obama giving execution orders on American citizens, killing them with drones, while handing over weapons to the Mexican Cartels, who are responsible for thousands of Mexican deaths and several American servicemen. Then he's arming Al Qaeda on the one hand, while using military forces to fight them with the other. Then he touts his support for murdering millions of innocent lives via abortion on a yearly basis. Once again, Obama takes the cake... he has real American blood on his hands.

Yes, Dems are really solving the problem... let's give amnesty to 20 million illegal immigrants and then give them health insurance. Hey, while we're at it, let's make everyone pay a premium, even if they don't want health insurance, and if they don't... we'll fine them. Meanwhile, let's destroy big business, by mandating that they provide certain, costly health insurances for all of their full time employees... oh, and by the way, we'll decrease the full time requirement to 30hrs instead of 40, so they have to include even more people. That'll teach 'em...

You silly people and your issue with Hitler comparisons to Obama... With exception to concentration camps, Obama is actually pretty similar. But, don't take my word for it... try listening to someone who lived under his rule.

Try to ignore the pink: http://victoriajackson.com/8502/85-year-old-hitler

Yes, they should... because they don't work for a company and they don't work for the federal government. If they worked under the federal government, they'd be employees of Obama. How does that work, when there are three heads of the government, which are supposed to serve as checks and balances for upholding the Constitution (Executive = President, Legislative = Congress, Judicial = Supremes)? They work for the citizens of this country - no one else. If you want to say that the IRS, DOI, DOJ, Military, etc. work for the Federal government, that's fine, because they actually do, under Obama.

This is a silly argument. They are compensated by the federal government which in turn gets it's funding from the taxpayer. But it stops being the taxpayer's dollar when it becomes compensation for someone's labor. Just as it's not your employer's money anymore once you've worked your hours and are due compensation. And sure, we can all say we hate congress and they don't deserve to be paid, but there are many more congressional staffers who are paid very little and do not deserve our contempt.

Why do you think it's just the DNC? Everyone with half a brain can Google and see that the debt has gone up every year a GOP was POTUS and every year GOP owned either the upper and/or lower house. It went up faster under Bush II than any POTUS before or since, doubling in during his terms. GOP started BOTH Iraq wars AND Afghanistan. PERIOD. Obama is paying the bill for two wars that BUSH II started. What a bunch of crap that you seem to blame Afghanistan and Iraq on Obama and not Bush. Those two Bush wars cost America many thousands of our sons and 6 trillion or more of debt. Eff the GOP. And I am not saying DNC is without blame.. I hate both of those parties; but at least I am honest and put blame where it deserves to be. GOP started 2 wars. Obama ended both in a responsible manner and timeframe that minimized Americans deaths and deaths to the Afghanis and Iraqis we handed the keys to. Anyone who says otherwise is dishonest and twisting history. I am against amnesty, and both GOP and DNC have equally allowed those Mexicans to sneak into USA. They should have built a great wall like China has, and should have done that 40 years ago. But no - both of them want those dirtballs over here selling oranges on highways, working in mills, and picking fruits and veggies. So they point fingers at each other but both are a bunch of Mexican lovers that welcome them to USA with open arms. Screw the GOP and their sick kickbacks via Super PAC's, PAC's, SIG's, and other sneaky backdoor kickbacks designed to make Congressmen and Senators very rich and give them tons of jaunts every year so their lives are wealthy AND fun.

If Healthcare is a right, as Obama says, why do any of us need to pay anything for it?

    - - - Updated - - -

    Umm, lets see.....

It was 10 Trillion when Obama took office, its nearly 17 now. its set to double since he took office.

This is not Bush's fault. Stop being a cry baby for Obama the loser.
