I didn't know we had a third-rate military teetering on the brink of disaster until I saw two news articles today.

As US military files for bankruptcy, the creditors keep calling (msn.com)
The navy has two aircraft carriers – and may soon have no way to refuel them (msn.com)
It seems that we couldn't make it another few years for the next generation of military tech to come along and keep us at the number one spot of the world's top militaries. We're in a crisis now!

How did this happen? And, what do we do?

Russian generals are dying on the front lines in Ukraine every day now. US generals not so much. How much longer can the US and NATO keep supplying Ukraine to keep killing Russians? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not one of the Russian troll posters, but thanks for playing.

On the off chance I'm misjudging you, I think the idea of the Ukraine deal is that we can send off some of our current inventory because we can build up new advanced stuff to replace it. But maybe that isn't true anymore?

Yep. The hardware and ammo we're sending to Ukraine will need replacing. Time to load up on military defense stocks.

The first is an absolute garbage article and should not be taken seriously at all. The military can no more go bankrupt than Social Security or the State Department.

And the second does not even belong in this thread. First of all, the carriers of the US Navy are nuclear powered, they do not need to be "refueled".

And secondly, that is not even about the US Navy. The very fact the article opens with "the Navy has two aircraft carriers" should have clued in anybody with functioning brain cells that it was not talking about the US Navy.

As for "How did this happen? And, what do we do?", we did nothing and can do nothing. That is the problem of the UK, it's their ships.
