I am going to use Hawaii as the example on this thread.

Hawaii has undergone severe persecution, so it is rumored around the local and non local residents. For many years a struggle for National Independence has been ensuing. Dealings with State and Federal Governments has sought to regain the Independence of The Kingdom of Hawaii as it was before 'the overthrow' of the monarchy.

Many sources show many different sides to the story.

An example is how the Native Hawaiian Population during the years of the Overthrow were few in numbers. Another example is how Christianity is falsely portrayed as having a major role in the desire to overthrow The Kingdom of Hawaii. Still others show how the Westerners were the ones who overthrew the Monarchy, or Kingdom of Hawaii.

While such publishings have been looked upon and with with different desires, the fight and struggle for Nation Independence seems to still be ruminating in the 'air'.

And so the false representations of a culture is brought in for discussion.

Today's Hawaii has a population of around 1,360,301 individuals.

It is not safe to say that all of these individuals know how to properly represent any Indigenous Culture of Indigenous Hawaiians.

The population demographics can be broken into such:

    Race Population % of Total
    Total Population
    1,360,301 100%
    Asian: 525,078 38%
    White: 336,599 24%
Two or More Races: 320,629 23%
Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander: 135,422 9%
    Hispanic or Latino: 120,842 8%
Three or more races: 113,640 8%
    Native Hawaiian: 80,337 5%
Black or African American: 21,424 &1
    Some Other Race: 16,985 1%
    American Indian: 4,164 Below 1%
Alaska Native tribes: 186 Below 1%

    https://suburbanstats.org/population/how-many-people-live-in-hawaii

While there are more Asians, Whites, and more 'two or more races' in Hawaii than Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian, to say that the 14 percent population is being properly represented could be untrue.

14 percent of the total population is 190,442.14 out of the total 1,360,301 population.

190,442 persons is a substantial amount of persons and so they should not have any 'false' representations of The Kingdom of Hawaiian culture accepted.

The term, 'Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander' can and most likely refers to:

According to the 2010 Census, 1.2 million people in the United States identified as Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, either alone or in combination with one or more other races. The Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population was the race group most likely to report multiple races in 2010
    https://www.census.gov/prod/cen2010/briefs/c2010br-12.pdf

Whereas the term Native Hawaiian can and most likely refers to:

Congress defines “Native Hawaiian” as “any individual who is a descendant of the aboriginal people who, prior to 1778, occupied and exercised sovereignty in the area that now constitutes the State of Hawai‘i.” (U.S. Public Law 103-150)

    https://ainaaloha.wordpress.com/who-are-native-hawaiians/

And so for any true or similar representations of The Kingdom of Hawaii, before the 1893 'overthrow' (?), should be done mostly by those who have ties to them who were in The Kingdom of Hawaii before the overthrow occurred.

The population of Hawaii in 1893 was approximately but not definitively:

According to the last census report done in the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1890, it listed the population of Hawaiian subjects at 48,117. Of this population the census listed the aboriginal Hawaiian at 40,622 (84.4%) and those Hawaiian subjects of foreign ancestry at 7,495 (15.6%).
    https://www.hawaiiankingdom.org/info-registry.shtml

    Year 1896: 109,020 persons.
    http://www.ohadatabook.com/T01-01-11.pdf

    https://www.hawaiiankingdom.org/info-registry.shtml

This table show the 'registry' for : Registry of Naturalized subjects in the Hawaiian Kingdom. Persons who have blood ties with any of the names in The Registry of Naturalized subjects in The Kingdom of Hawaii pre-1893 overthrow would have legal rights to represent Hawaiian Culture in the ways of how it may have been before the 1893 Overthrow.

If arguments of other 'culturally' based desires other than the culture of The Kingdom of Hawaii wants to be represented, then they must understand that they are not representing the culture of The Kingdom of Hawaii but are representing 'modern' cultures in the Hawaiian Islands of today and cultures which arose within the Territorial and Statehood years of Hawaii.

I was unable to view this whole video but the spokesperon in the video is the person who is 'representing' Hawaii today.

Everything you need to know about the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Keanu Sai explains the event in five minutes. This is a clip from the program "Aloha Quest - Part One," a one hour program covering various historical events from 1840 through 1898. The entire program is available on DVD at: http://www.hawaiianvoice.com/?wpsc-pr...

Mahalo to Dawn Kaniaupio and Alphamedia for the interview with Keanu Sai and to Dennis "Bumpy" Kanahele, executive producer of the 6-hour Aloha Quest telethon who made this program possible.

This video is NOT a disparaging video on the culture of Hawaiian Persons. It could be a 'false representation' of Hawaiian Persons.

A spokesperson who is going to 'represent' any entity should speak Truth and Facts and not opinions and ideas.

Without proper investigations and knowledge, his statements and sentiments would have been received as True, Verified and Reliable.

Dr. David Keanu Sai lectures on the illegal and prolonged occupation of the Hawaiian Islands and its profound impact today. March 15, 2013, Keauhou Sheraton Hotel, Hawaii. 2 hour 14 minutes.

    The Chairman's Welcome

    Greetings and Aloha,

Welcome to the website of the Hawaiian Kingdom Government presently operating within the occupied State of the Hawaiian Islands. Since the Spanish-American War, 1898, our Nation has been under prolonged occupation by the United States of America. Our web pages tell you about the range of activities carried out by the Hawaiian Government in developing our relations with the community of Nations in regards to the occupation and the profound economic benefits that arise from its exposure. Me ka 'oia'i'o (Sincerely),

    David Keanu Sai, Ph.D.
Chairman of the Council of Regency
    Acting Minister of the Interior

Although Mr. David Sai is representing Hawaii, he is neglecting to use his Hawaiian name, Kawika, rather than the Hebraic Name, David.

    Kawika Traditional

1.1 Eia nö Kawika, (ehe) - Here indeed is Kawika (David)

    http://www.realhula.com/pdf/09-Kawika.pdf

King David Kalakaua also used the Hebraic name, David, rather than using The Hawaiian Name, Kawika.

How could any such person 'represent' a culture in which he is not even associating himself with through proper name usages?

The surname 'Sai' would be of Indian origin according to this source.

It means "saint", "master", or "lord" in Sindhi and Marathi, from the Dari Persian "sāyæ"

Originally, سایه (sāyeh) was a poetic way to refer to Sufi mystics in Persian. It literally means "shade" with the connotation of "protective" and "influential." Sayeh in of itself is a name among Iranians. With the Mughal conquest of India, it was loaned into many languages. Sindhi Sufis added the suffix ین ईं -ī(n) to the root word to make it the adjective سائیں साईं sāī(n) an honorific meaning "saint", "master", or "lord." In fact, Modern South Asian Sufis often refer to God as "Allāh sāī(n)". In the 19th century, a Sufi ascetic in Shirdi, now located in Maharashtra, India, with no name came to prominence as a preacher of religious tolerance and unity and drew both Muslim and Hindu devotees to him. His devotees referred to him as سائیں بابا साईं बाबा "sāī(n) bābā". Over time, the word became standard Marathi but it was corrupted so that the homorganic nasal was deleted and it became साई "sāī". Today, the name Sai is given to both boys and girls in India in reference to Sai Baba of Shirdi, however it is still relatively rare. It is often followed by a middle name which changes the overall meaning and avoids confusion with other people with the same name. It is most common among the people of Maharashtra, Andhra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Goa.

    GENDER: Masculine

Sai means "Difference". Is one of the main characters in Naruto Shippuden.

In the Arab world, sayyid is the equivalent of the English word "liege lord" or "master" when referring to a descendant of Muhammad, as in Sayyid Ali Sultan.[4] The word sidi (from the contracted form sayyidī, 'my liege') is often used in Arabic.

Although reliable statistics are unavailable, conservative estimates put the number of Sayyids in the tens of millions.

Basically, Mr. David Keanu Sai could truly be a descendant of Muhammad.

Why would he want to disguise himself as Hawaiian if he might be more Arabic?

    Dear Mr. David Keanu Sai, (प्रिय श्री डेविड साई)

If you are truly more Arabic or Indian in blood lineage than Hawaiian, please represent Arabia or India or the Arab Countries before representing Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians. Thank you!

    شكرا لكم.

    الله سلام

    धन्यवाद।
