Your moral compass is completely shot. Why would you allow such a thing to happen? Do you dislike the responsibility of making sound, ethical, and moral decisions?

    - - - Updated - - -

In what context would "destroy all life" (apart from a few select favourites) not be evil? if you've found one, then I submit you've sold something valuable in yourself to support a corrupt dogma.

I thought everyone was knowledgeable about the story in Revelation.

You can read it at your leisure.

    Here it is in pictures.

The point is that God goes on one of his routine killing and torture sprees so would you help him do it? It's sort of what ISIS is doing right now.

Really, consider, before you is the creator of the universe, the creator of you and everything that is. This being who has ultimate authority has given you a command. In what way do you think you really have a choice? This is not a morality question placed before us, it is an authority question. It is also a survival question since with but a blink you and all you love can be destroyed. God has ultimate authority, all that is including morality, laws, and life it self comes from him.

I would assume it was Satan masquerading as God.

Ah but the premise of this discussion is that you know without a doubt it is God. What then if you know it is God? This is an important question.

When people stop to see who authors a thread, especially in the case of this author, that often gets in the way.
People who post 20 threads a day, are quite predictable, and often ignored. I can think of three members off the top of my head.
Each of them are lefty God-haters.

Besides, someone answered in the first reply.
If God instructs it, it's not evil. Short and concise, and basically ends the thread.

As for me, I would struggle with what I find to be wrong, vs. what I'm instructed to do. Short of a defensive need to do so, I don't think I could do it.
I already struggle with that "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife" thingy. She's hot... and very, very friendly.

None of these "question" threads are question threads, as you know. They are invitations, hoping a theist will respond so a group of you who spend all day here trying to convince each other there is no God, will have a target for the day.

So... since many of the threads in this forum contain posts saying "none of our theist friends are responding".... maybe you guys should just post things you guys agree on. Stop depending on other people for your 'eExistence'.

So God appears to you....and tells you "I command you to take that knife...and slowly cut that 2 year old apart, starting with his fingers and toes, ignoring its screams of anguish and pain....until you have dissected it until it is dead"...

    and you'd obey?

    - - - Updated - - -

Same question to you Micketto...as I asked Crawdadr above.

Just so everybody is clear where you stand?

Wow... you quoted me and even though it's now posted twice, you still can't read it.

You surely have to know by now that I don't care what you or anyone else here is "clear" on.

If you can't read the answer I've already given, then you should spend less time here.... and more time here.

I gave a concrete example....why is it more difficult for you to be consistant in your view with that? As opposed to just a general principle?

If you are consistant, you should be able to say "Yes, if God told me to torture a 2 year old to death with a knife....I'd do it. It wouldn't be evil because God ordered it."

    Will you?

It is nice to see an honest and direct answer to this hypothetical from one that professes devotion to a God. Basically you believe in the entity and worship it...but, do not follow the instructions you disagree with.

Seems much the way all Religions function, cherry pick as required.

Thus the primary reason there are so many different ones.

Also interesting if Micketto is saying that even though God said "don't covet thy neighbor's wife"....he ignores that.

But if God ordered him to slaughter a child....he'd DO that.

Does anyone really have a choice when God is standing in front of you and commanding you to do something? Do you know the consequences of disobeying? Not to mention God created that child and can at will change, destroy, or create him or her again. Our earthly bodies are immaterial.

But lets lay out a few earth shattering things we have learned in this scenario. First you know for a FACT that God exists and he has come down to speak to you personally. Two the world as you know it will never be the same God is not interacting in full view of everyone. Three if the Lord has come down that means that revelations is almost done and ALL people will be raised and judged. Four since all people will be raised and judged the child's fate is already sealed and so are yours.

Now it is easy to say what a person should do in the scenario given. Fact is that it is not out of character for God to demand the life of a human. He has done it before and in much larger numbers. The problem I would have is do I have the courage to follow the order. I do not believe I do. Most likely I would fail the test and doom my self.

Crawdadr...what if the "test"...was God seeing if you'd go against YOURSELF, just to obey Him?

And a "failure"...would be giving up your own personal morality for "Well, God says it's a good thing...so I'll do something I think is evil and not use my own judgement which is obviously inferior?"

Suppose the guy who DOESN'T do what God orders him to...because it conflicts with his own personal morals and ethics....is the guy who "passes the test"?

Then I would have passed the test and God will have proven that he would not place a challenge before one of his followers that he could not overcome.

Well, that would be a stupid way to interpret what I said.

Which is why I expected it to happen.

What instructions have I not followed ?

    Please list them.....

But now you've contradicted yourself.....you've said ANYTHING God orders "has to be some ultimate good" and "He's smarter and more holy than me...so if it seems evil to me, I must be in the wrong."

So which is the real test? "Obediance" or "Being true to yourself"?

Why do you lie so much?

How does "I don't think I could do that" equate to "he'd DO that"..... ?!

Seriously... why do you post here non-stop if you can't even read ?

Or is it that lying about those you disagree with is the only way to win your constant arguing?

No I wasn't and how does that excuse your outright lying anyway ?

I said I couldn't do something... then you claimed I said I would do it.

That's not confusion... that's trolling, lying, childish and expected.... but it's not confusion.

I did not say "has to be some ultimate good" and "He's smarter and more holy than me...so if it seems evil to me, I must be in the wrong." I deny your straw.........man. I am from Kansas I know strawmen

But to answer your question of what is the real test I would not know until after I made my decision.

It clearly doesn't matter what people actually say.... he will just claim you said the opposite.

You ALSO said agreed with the idea that "If God orders it, it's not evil"....so why would you object to doing something that you think must be "good"????

So yes, you were on BOTH sides....claiming you "wouldn't do it" but also claiming that no matter what "it" is...it had to be "good". So again, why would you balk at doing something "good"???

Except you want to cover yourself on every front?

Maybe to someone intent on putting words in peoples' mouths just for the sake of arguing 24/7, sure.

How is anything I said mutually exclusive?

While I agree it isn't evil, I don't think I could do it.

Why in the world is that so hard to understand ?!

You still haven't answered why you constantly lie about what people say.
