Why is all media fundamentally the same nowadays? That is, only broadcasting information about the problems in society and politics and disasters. Why is not any radio or tv program today about solutions and e.g innovation, in other words liberating? (if you have a society with hardly any problem, there is more liberty) For every problem there is a solution, crime, polution, ecology, finance, jobs, etc. But the solutions are not coming since the turn of the century, now thirtheen years of problem information injected in the minds of the people/masses. The reason has become clear why there are never solutions given, because when people constantly hear and see all the problems, they are trying to do something about it (which is very hard or impossible, you bumb into a bureaucratic wall, so you are listen to a polician), more and more (masses of) people are getting influenced by all social and jobs/financial and political problems. What this process is causing is more and more resistance and fight (battle) in the people/masses. You can see were this lead to, to the same as you already see in the Middle East, revolutions in the streets and political change and instability, and this can lead to organization of a that mass of people behind a leader/politician that promizes to solve all their problems. We will see this going to happen in the near future, because a crisis is going on for seven years now (the media does not come with new information you can read on internet), and everytime politics promize that next year it will be better, and a year later still no progress. This is what is causing more and more people to get involved into politics (which is the biggest organisation ever created, not by the people) or join an organisation.

    Solutions mean liberty (less fight/struggle)
    Problems mean history (more fight/struggle)

One man's "solution" may be another man's infringement on his rights and liberty.

Some folks think the "solution" to DC's corrupt, fiscal irresponsibility and woefully overextended benevolence is confiscating ever increasing amounts of money from specific individuals...where this man believes such is an inequitable infringement on individual natural rights and liberty.

Some folks think the "solution" to gun violence is blanket firearm bans or strict gun control...where this man believes such is not only condescending, arrogant and elitist...as it treats all citizens as irresponsible, untrustworthy, would-be criminals...but egregiously violates individual natural rights and liberty without due process.

Some folks think the "solution" to obesity is to blanket ban certain foods and ingredients, or apply Pigovian taxation.... where this man believes such is authoritarian, outcome based social engineering which inherently violates individual natural rights and liberties, and...again...is as condescending, arrogant and elitist as some folk's (generally, the same) stance on firearms.

Some folks think the "solution" to socioeconomic "inequity" is to cede more arbitrary authority to the same corrupt, fiscally irresponsible, collectivist minded, outcome seeking, "benevolent" central planners who've "solved" us into 17 trillion dollar debt and trillion dollar deficits....where this man believes the role of government is to simply respect and endeavor to protect individual natural rights and liberties equally, ensure an individual's equal ACCESS to opportunity is not systemically impeded, and let the chips fall where they may.

I could go on.... indefinitely..... but you get the point.

The problem is that people assume the rest of the country is like them.

Most people want crappy celebrity news. Nobody wants balanced political reporting, they want interesting political reporting. The media companies just give the people what they want. If they didn't they'd lose business. That's how freedom works.

You can't fix the inclinations of individuals through government mandate. As the country gradually becomes more educated, more people want legitimate political news, so channels like SBS and ABC (over here, I don't know what it's like over there), gradually satisfy this market demand. Q&A is an incredibly popular program. Al Jazeera, as much as I disagree with its worldview, presents more detailed analysis than your typical media station, geared towards a younger, more hip liberal audience.

A very large amount of disillusionment with the media and desire for coercive reform is merely people disagreeing with society as a whole and wanting to force their desires on everyone else.
