If you look at history, most revolutions coincide with a famine. It often gets hijacked by people with an agenda but it's usually about food. There'll be a minority of rich people with nice vases in their mansion, the place gets stormed, the residents killed and people steal the vases and any cash in the house. This doesn't actually solve the famine since you can't eat vases, but later on they call it a revolution since saying you killed someone so that you could try and eat their vase would make you look pretty stupid.

Scientists cannot even define what a revolution is yet, let alone determine causes of them. This is such an immensely complicated subject that to claim one single thing is responsible for them all is idiotic.
