This was a totally unnecessary thing for Dawkins to say, and his willingness to say such things is a big reason people don't like atheists. I do not understand why atheists go out of their way to make people not like them. It seems to me a strange way to convince people.
There's a very big difference between saying, "Christians are wrong," and saying "Christians are abusing their children when they teach Christianity to their children." The first statement is a legitimate disagreement. The second statement is an outragous insult, and does nothing to advance any sort of intellectual debate. All it does is stir up hostility and hate.

Americans are still living with this question seriously. For most Europeans, Dawkins included, it is just a means of dodging serious politics while feeling 'radical'. There are no gods or any arguments for capitalism.

Richard Dawkins is a douch, and is hated even by other Atheists. Using him as the gold standard for atheism is a mistake.
