I should think it's obvious even to a fool, that when a ship is told to turn around and is in waters illegally that it's up to no good. But then again what can one expect?

They say that stupid birds will fly,
    together up in yonder sky.

Yep, they had guns, and used them. Very ineffectively. That's why they started ramming it, because the guns weren't having any effect.

The Soviets used cruise ships to move troops into Cuba.

Why would Venezuela tell a ship that was in international waters to turn around? You're not making any sense.

Right now cruise ships can be leased very cheaply. The Venezuelans obviously knew something and they're furious that it has cost them one of their ships.

Read the article in the OP and the one in post 6. Just because it doesn't make sense doesn't mean its not true. Here's from the link I provided in post 6.

I assume from the OP link that the ship is owned or leased by Columbian Cruise services, which automatically makes it suspect since their economy runs on drugs and the Columbian government is closely connected to Washington.

I tried to find out who the publishers, editors, and donors were, something I always do when a site appears suspect to me, and there were no names. Also can a cruise ship afford to be cruising around without any passengers? I never heard of Seems very suspicious to me - and I should think to everyone.

Actually it fly's Portugal's flag and the owners are based in Germany.

Not suspicious at all. It's not uncommon. And in any case its irrelevant because it was in international waters. 60 miles away from Venezuela, and not even pointed towards it.

Maduro acted stupidly and as a result showed how weak his navy is.

The cruise ship was 60 miles away from Venezuela, according to who? Washington? MSM? They always lie, so how do you know they're not lying now?

According to the BBC. Again, British Broadcasting Network. Not American based. I've never had a problem with them. Do you have any evidence to indicate that they lied? If so then please present it. And no, your opinions do not count.

This story has been reported in a variety of media outlets.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-52151951

And for those that find it hard to use google properly.
The author of the article in thedrive is Joseph Trevithick who has also written for globalsecurity. At the bottom of thedrive we can find those that run this website ('The Drive Team') and are responsible for the content. Granted, the drive would not be my first choice regarding worldwide news, but this is basic research 101 and sadly too complicated for some who instead perfer to create their own narrative pulled out of thin air because their political worldview doesn't allow them to accept certain facts.

    Edit: spelling

The author of the article was right ... it sounds like an April Fool joke. Certainly made the Venezuelan navy look foolish.

An Article of little consequence certainly shows a measure of Foolishness on the part of
the Captain, who undoubtedly thought the Boat was being used to smuggle Mercenaries
or Arms. And given all the recent overt Threats & Crippling Sanctions these suspicions
..................................................................................................................................... must be seen as having some Merit.

ut but this plethora of One Liners from the characters who have a Hate on for the
Venezuelan people is quiet telling as to the Intellectual depth of these surface bubbles
& appear only as Analytical Retentive Offerings of no consequence just like the Article

It's so rare for a warship, any warship, to be sunk nowadays that of course it's interesting and newsworthy. When was the last time a non-Navantia warship of any size was sunk? The last one I recall was in 2010, when the South Korean corvette was torpedoed by the Norks in the Yellow Sea. Trying to handwave this away as being unimportant or of little consequence is silly in the extreme.

The cruise was on its wat to Tortuga, for a planed engine maintenance. Even with out Corona, the Antarctic season is over and ships get their scheduled maintenance done.
    Hardly.
You can go on the internet and check out each ships position and reason for travel and one of the smaller cruise, owned by a German company, flying the Portuguese flag, I am sorry you have to be stoned and drunk at the same time to think they are going to invade.

Lets call it by its name attempted piracy.

I don't know where I read it, but I found this:

WILLEMSTAD - Venezuela is demanding that the Dutch government open an investigation into the activities of the RCGS Resolute, a vessel presently docked in Curacao’s Saint Anna Bay for “serious aggression committed against the Venezuelan Coast Guard vessel Naiguata,” Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza has announced.

According to Caracas, along with the Netherlands, Venezuela has asked Curacao to help investigate the incident, but received no response. In a press statement, the Ministry noted that “Venezuelan authorities do not exclude the possibility that this ship was transporting mercenaries to attack military bases in Venezuela.”

“This attacking ship (RCGS Resolute) violated national and international regulations and conventions in our waters and docked in the port of Willemstad Curacao, requesting fuel. What are the local authorities waiting for?” he asked. According to the defense minister, despite the complaint made by Venezuelan authorities, “we have received no response from the authorities of the Island of Curacao.”

This afternoon, the Minister of Transport, Zita Jesus-Leito indicated that the ship arrived in the harbor to bunker but no one is allowed to disembark. Only the crew is on board. It is a ship that had an accident near Venezuela but that is not Curaçao’s problem. The ship will be permitted to leave and the problem should be resolved between Venezuela and Portugal, which is where the ship is registered.

In the article is says that no one is allowed to disembark, so how would they know if there was anyone else on board other than the crew? If there were mercenaries, it would cause a lot of problems with the insurance company - I think!
