Well, those of us who have spent time in the Middle East probably have a better insight then ... a highly bigoted atheist (not you) looking to confirm his prejudices.

Now, in Afghanistan, why do you think there were riots, deaths, etc.? Do you really think that Islam was the culprit? Or was in the fact that we were embroiled in a bloody insurgency, in which both sides cliamed that they were the 'true' reprsentatives and protectors of Islam in Afghanistan? Now, one side, Karzai supports the traditional Afghan tribal culture of jirgas etc., and the Taliban represent the clerical side of Islam - a true secular vs. theorcratioc struggle that has persisted since Islam gained its hold in Afghanistan. BOTH sides claim to represent Islam, and the ebb and flow of that dynamic is strewn across Afghanistan's history. In this case, the side that allowed foreign barbarians to burn their holy book without response? That is an opportunity too good for any insurgent group to pass up ... and they did not (on many fronts).

Now, what is happening in Egypt? The one time villlified Muslim brotherhood has taken the reigns of political power, and they seem ... decidedly moderate do they not? So what does this once villified and sidelined MAJORITY, think when they see a video produced by the coptic Christian minority in America? An America that supported the Mubarak regime for decades? They see a deliberate attempt to poison the relationship between Egypt and America, a deliberate slam of Islam ... their religion, to poison the relationship with Egypt and America, and are none to happy about it.

Now, I wonder if there are any applicable lessons for FS as he carries out his anti-religious Crusade with a series of vulgar slanders?

    WHAT PREJUDICES? Agaisnt whom?

Dude, did you even read what I wrote? I SPECIFICALLY mentioned that we were involved their militarily. This basically proves that you don't even read posts before responding.

... The Muslim Brotherhood didn't raid the embassy.

I appreciate you agian blowing off a reasoned arguement to get emotional. Maybe get a hold of yourself and try again.

And that is but one minor point in a much larger geo-political statement, go back and read everything that you didn't mention, like other state to stsate contacts ad the rcent transition of power and the lingering influences.

Really, G, if you ahve a problem maintaining your cool a debate forum is not for you.

I suggest you run off the mods again now ...

You think they have no supporters? Well, I am sure you random sepculation trumps decades of experience in the area.

    Please, look up contrarianism.

It isn't a a reasoned argument since you aren't using reason to come to a conclusion. You came to a conclusion and then said that it was reasoned. What am I prejudiced against and how does it relate to the context of this topic?

Says the guy who basically entire subforum laughs at since all you do is complain about atheists being mean to you and then turn around and do the same thing you complain about. Sure, I didn't mention the geopolitically history of Afghanistan and the history of fundamentalist Islam vs. moderate Islam, which I admit that you probably have more education on than I do. What grinds my gears is that you seem to be implying that I am saying that Islam is culprit when I never even mentioned the role of Islam and specifically mentioned secular explanations.

Why do you keep saying this? The only time I ever reported you was when you started mud-slinging (name-calling) against theists as well as atheists and it was clear that you were simply trying to start a flame-fest which is against the rules of this forum.

I never said they didn't have supporters, I just see no connection between the Muslim Brotherhood leadership and this attack.

Thank you for the propoganda that blames the break down in arguementation totally on others. A very atheist thing to do.

And i guess we are back to eprsonal insults, because another atheist with thin skin cannot argue without finger pointing and slurs. And it snever his fault.

Atheism in not a religion or I will admit that I have been involved in organized flame bait to smear you! And somehow that makes other look bad?

See above, you continue to blame everyone but yourself kiddo.

Again, you have no idea. Look up contrarianism, and ad hominem. THen try and actually make a case.

    1. YEP! I don't think that the Amish would do this, for example.
    2. "Vulgar slanders": please tell us exactly what (if anything) is UNTRUE in that Mohammad movie, then we'll talk. Until then, I'll speak the truth. Is speaking the TRUTH slander?

I agree with Neutral on this one (yes, I realize that could signal the beginning of the Apocolypse etc. since it's never happened before). Arabs are NOT the dumbest people on earth....I don't believe in racial stereotypes. However, people who are on a religious-high, like people on a drug/alcohol high, do crazy things, and no racial group is immune to the reality-distorting effects of fearing an invisible friend ("believe in me - and, uh, give money to my church - or you go to HELL!!!!!").

Modern Secular Humanists are not racists, unlike the Bible (Israelites are superior as they are god's chosen people - sounds like Hitler, and their god told them to slaughter the Amalekites, etc., for what, having a different invisible super-hero?).

Show me where Dawkins or Harris are racist. I'm sure that's not possible. Modern Secular Humanists are much much more moral than religious people (no offense, as they are well-intended, I'll admit) because they do NOT believe that just because you happen to pick a certain one of the 200,000 gods/prophets in history that you get to go to an elitist country club in the sky, while those who honestly chose a DIFFERENT invisible super-hero DESERVE to be tortured worse than Hitler ever dreamed possible for any Jew at Aushwitz in his lifetime.....we don't believe that that's *FAIR*, but religious people certainly do.

Margot, you usually speak in broad generalities. But here and now can you please tell is what exactly is NOT true in the Mohammad movie that is causing the death of at least 4 people (and it's only been out a very short time)? I'm afraid that I can't let your generalities go anymore, I'm going to have to ask for specifics. Where is it wrong, specifically?

If it's NOT wrong, then perhaps you should consider condemning Mohammad, since his teachings have lead to the War on Terror, countless acts of terrorism (www.thereligionofpeace.com lists those), deaths due to people simply drawing CARTOONS of him, and now 4 dead Americans due to his personal example of having critics of Islam slaughtered (the movie shows that as well.)

We need to DEFEAT Mohammad in this longest of all US wars (which is about to go nuclear, thanks to his Mullah followers), not coddle him! This movie gets to the truth about this twisted man.

Now you are getting it. They say that Mohammad and Jesus are both prophets and they say this with the implication that they are "equals". However, actions speak louder than words, don't they?

They are forbidden to make Mohammad equal to God, but the reality is that whether they wish to admit it or not, he is their god.

And then their is the Koran. They treat it like an idol. If you were so much as to drop it on the floor they might cut your head off.

AND in addition to these ^ things, they worship the Moon aka Man. aka A.L.L.A.H = Arm.Leg.Leg.Arm.Head.

so the worship of Muhammed makes sense. but yet no portait of this deity?

You don't take that fairy tale seriously, do you? It mentions UNICORNS TEN times in one book, because I guess NINE times just wasn't quite enough to get people to believe in them.
If you don't believe in the magic GENIES (Jinns) of Islam, then of course don't believe in the magic of talking dead guys in the bible (zombies are real?, come on.)

Speaking of "demons", there is no proof of those whatsoever (ok, there IS INDEED as much proof for them as for the Lochness Monster, I'll admit) so why would you buy into that fantasy? "Demons" are no more believable than the Qur'an's claim of Mohammad "splitting the moon", or flying on a magic horse, etc.

I USED to believe in Santa and Jesus, then I was introduced to the wonders of science and reason, and I then found an inner peace that only modern Secular Humanists can understand.

The most astute Scientist of all was Einstein, no? Even he believed in the Bible.

    So did Issac Newton,
    Nastradamus,
AND even Muhammed, the illeterate nomad who preach warmonger, child rape/mariage and the worship of the Moon.

    Science and Reason aka witchcraft.

Congrats ... I am now a drug user, in addition to a rapist, a slaver, a genocidal maniac, but only become a troll magically when I stand up to the childish nonesense above. His arguement is not racist, just incredibly prejudiced.

But, given atheisms status as a non-religion, even as he throws out secular humanism which is ... oops, a religion, I guess his prejudice, as it usually does, blinded him to the application of his own standards to himself. And they do seem far more fitting to his secular atheism than anything else.

Einstein read the Bible....and became was an ATHEIST!
Did you see that poll that showed that the people who knew the most about religion were...wait for it...ATHEISTS. Think about they that's true...really think about that.

I believe that 70-80% of the Bible is indeed GOOD. It's the other 20-30% that would lead reasoned people to believe that it's not from a "god" and is just made up and not divine (ie Jesus is not divine, but was a fairly good philosopher, even though he was delusional - "I am the son of god!"...come on.)
Jesus said he's return "soon", and in his follower's lifetime, so he was obviously delusional. He also approved of slavery, yep the second most horrific crime in human history, not once, not twice, but three times in the Bible alone, and never spoke out against it, so he's not very moral at all. But some of his teachings are quite good (charity, etc.)

There is a rehab center, called modern Secular Humanism, that you might want to check yourself into. :)

But seriously, only drugs/alcohol/mental-illness/religion could get a sane person to believe that some invisible talking dead guy in the sky can magically hear them talking late at night by their bed-side and will help them with their problems if they ask him, when that same (alleged) twisted individual is (allegedly) the same one who causes babies to be born with horrific birth defects ("act of god") and also the one who caused 120 THOUSAND innocent people to die in the Aceh Tsunami (another "act of god", uh, that's exactly who they are praying to!) - without giving us an effective warning that he was causing it, apparently.

Oh look, more deliberate ignorance from an atheist. Apparently random bounts of uncontrollable ignorance pose a threat to religion rather than an embarassment to atheism?

Einstein was a diest. He believed that God created the universe, but, he struggled with the idea that something big enough to create a universe, one he perhaps uniquesly understood just how massive it is, and yet care about little specks like us. Nevertheless, Einstein was remarkably tender with genuine faith, shown a key compassion and understanidng for it, even as he criticized the excesses of organized religion ... but was nevertheless Jewish enough to be offered a position in the newly formed Israeli government.

Unfortunately for our atheists, whom of course have no indoctrination, the various atheist web sites simply quote Einstein barbs against religion, and then pretend that hte rest of Einstein does not exist - they do the same with Jefferson, ignoring entirely that he was a Christian. They ignore Hitlers antics and meandering in order to call him Christian, and then slam everyone in a generalized prejudiced rant. THey selectively quote portions of the OT, ignoring the remainder, and pretend entirely that the NT even exits.

    See the pattern?

Well, everyone else does, which is why atheism and these antics have earned atheism the covet place as least trusted religion on earth. Its deliberate ignorance and nothing more.

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.
    -Albert Einstein

Guess your random atheist web site filling you with Crisaderesque propoganda forgot to educate about that one didn't it? What a shock.

Now who is trying to tell me that a belief system deliberately miseducted people to start a Crusade is not a religion? And who exactly do we hold accountable for these ignorant tirades if not the atheists who make them and the doctrinal organizastions of atheism who so badly and deliberately miseducated them?

Obviously the ONLY one of those that modern Secular Humanists believe in is REASON. Come on.
Show us ONCE, where Sam Harris (PBUH) approves of any of the other 4. Come on, please get real.

I'm not best described as "an atheist" (that could mean way too many things), but as "a modern Secular Humanist that is best described as following the truths taught by Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris and secularhumanism.org".

Agh yes, because knowing actual secular humanists, I can say that they are none too pleased that you would blandly reference them even as you turn their faith upside down with your antics, causing it no small amount of embarassment in the process. Your antics are far more toxic to secular humanism than any other religion on earth .... including scientology.

Now, what else is it other than rudeness coupled with paranoia, that causes someone to see ... drug users (never used it), alcoholics (I am a teetotaler), and mental illness (get a screening every year for the profession I am in, You?) everywhere based solely on a faith choice? Especially when yours is ALSO a faith choice, one not suipported by evidence ... just rudeness.

Well, congrats hope you enjoy your head long rush to the bottom .... wait, you and your religion are already there, guess you are just intent on widening the gap - the credibility gap thathas already created a trust issue will no doubt be repaired by ... using paranoia.

Good luck on your Crusade, I am sure it will fair better than all the previous ones, particularly as you take off on it utterly alone.

4Horsemen, you "disliked" post #39 (I appreciate your feedback), so let me ask you: can you please explain to us why magic invisible "Demons" with wings (they are in the Bible, and if you believe in demons then you probably believe in an invisible talking dead guy - Jesus, too, I assume) are much more believable than the Qur'an's claim of Mohammad "splitting the moon", or flying on a magic horse, etc.

Richard Dawkins would explain "demons" in one word: "nonsense". But maybe you are the correct one, and the world-famous Oxford professor and evidence-based evolutionary scientist is the wrong one, so please tell us as to why. One of us is clearly wrong.

    Respectfully, FreedomSeeker.

Well, lets apply YOUR standsrds. He doesn't specifically condemn them, ergo ... we can only conclude that every atheist is acrd carrying, literally, tarot practintioner ... no doubt dabbling in demonology too boot.

Such is the analysis of your 'reason'.
