1. Moskhail is not correct. You have to write Moskal'.
2. The Ukrainian language does not exist. It's a fact. There are some dialects (about four ones) and people from Western and from East of Ukraine don't understand each other.
3. The native language of Shevchenko was Russian. Most of his writing documents were written with Russian. Some of them were written with... Attention, please! They were written with South Russian... At one point Shevchenko had to write in Russian because the Czarist government outlawed the use of Ukrainian. Shevchenko was exiled to Russia as a punishment by the Czar for writing and supporting the use of the Ukrainian language.

There are dialects and regional differences and accents in the Ukrainian language. I may gave to listen carefully if a Ukrainian from the East is speaking but Inunderstand them. I did say a Ukrainian not one of the Russians who infest the East. I at times have to,listen carefully when someone from Great Britain in speaking English because it could be one of the accents in England or Scotland or Wales. So since Great Britain have different accents or dialects does that mean there is no English language. The Indians use a dialect of English it is hard to understand but it is English.
