1:14 On Friday’s broadcast of “Fox News Primetime,” Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) criticized Democrats for saying that the filibuster is racist after they used the filibuster to block his police reform bill last year. Scott said, “It was a frustrating, irritating moment where the Democrats used the filibuster to block police reform that would have positively impacted disproportionately African American communities. Here’s what we know about the Democrats: They were for the filibuster before they were against the filibuster. https://www.breitbart.com/clips/202...y-is-racist-against-my-police-bill-last-year/ Sen. Scott is right! The democrats hypocrisy on the filibuster is about as blatant as can be. Biden and Obama were steadfast in their defense of the filibuster as Senators.
Democrats received a bitter taste of what they did regarding the filibuster after the 2014 election and instead of learning from it want to double down on it.
The filibuster was used almost exclusively in the '50s and '60s to block civil rights legislation. That's why it's called racist. I don't know about the bill Scott is referencing. If your point is hypocrisy, well color me surprised.
Let's be honest here, is there anything, anywhere that existed at any time that isn't considered racist by the left?
How is that different from what Republicans do? Or are you saying the Republicans hands are pristine when it comes to changing the rules to favor them when they are in power? There is a whole glass house thing in there somewhere!
And yet then senators Obama and Biden spoke so adamantly 40 years later as to why we needed to protect it.
It was a police reform bill that had about 80% of what democrats wanted but they wanted no bill rather than one authored by a black Republican. Had any other Republican led on that bill it would be law now.
Democrats remember George Floyd with silence, sweeping police reforms (usatoday.com) The Democrats had their own bill. It was an election year. Pretty easy to figure out.
My point is that when they are in the minority democrats loved the filibuster as a restraint on majority power to cram things down their throats, but now in the slimmest of majority they want to be rid of the filibuster in order to cram things down our throats.
That's not a point. It's just an emotional repetition of your other post. My question is so what? The OP is nonsense. I already showed why the filibuster is characterized as being racist historically. I can ignore the screaming from the far left, but I can't ignore its historical use. Scott's bill was filibustered because Democrats didn't feel it went far enough, and they had one of their own. Plus, it was an election year. Scott's bill fell to politics; it has nothing to do with race.
Thanks, but not needed. I found it on my own. The bill's text is irrelevant. It was filibustered because of politics.
It had everything to do with race. Democrats are in denial that one can even be a black Republican and to see one get credit in the overall African American community was too much for them to handle. Now we have two African American Freedom Force members in the GOP House delegation.
WTH are you talking about? Tim Scott. Legislation. 2020. Election. Try to stick to your own topic, please.
You will not presume to tell me what to do on my topic. I was responding to the topic as I as a conservative see fit. Deal with it.
My comment was related to all of the above. You brought politics and the 2020 election into the discussion and I responded accordingly. That you didn’t like my response is not my issue.
