When these two first appeared most people thought they were from outer space and didn't know what to make of them. Way ahead of their time. Good thing- we may never have had rock 'n' roll. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOzB7I2y7Ic
Les Paul didn't invent the electric guitar but my GOD he could play it, and I think he did make contributions to the solid body type. Strange that he played for the Fred Waring Band, led by another inventor who pioneered the Electric Blender
He didn't really do it first but he perfected it to the point where it couldn't be ignored. His use of primitive tape recorders and overdubbing was an elegant innovation.
SAAAAWEEET!! One of the first (if not the first) to use multi-tracking (overdubbing). I saw a documentary on him during his last years. He still had all the equipment he used back then and was still playing once a week at a club. It's amazing the way he so 'matter of factly' rips out those tunes on the guitar...the very first 'shredder' IMO.
Here's my favorite... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiJ6ME4EGQI ... possum blushes when Mary Ford sings... ... he thinks she's soooo purdy. Here's another... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qtYcSwTN7Y
