She wants to study law enforcement. She will make a good cop. You know, what George wants to be...

 

Good for him! Good for her, hopefully, though sometimes giving someone a free ride doesn't work out. Hopefully she will get her (*)(*)(*)(*) together and succeed.

 

She will first have to finish 3rd grade. I believe reading and writing cursive would be a requirement of college.

Good for her. She still has to pass the entrance exams.

 

It'll never happen, she could she never pass the exams...although most in college basketball take basket weaving or some kind of black history to get the grades they need to play, but she'll still have to learn cursive...LOL

She won't have to learn cursive but she will need a laptop. Easy on the college atheletes, I played D1 Football and my course load brutal. Bedsides she doesn't look much like an athelete to me. I'm just curious as to whether it will be old school or new school she attends.

So you're saying that Tom Joyner doesn't have to worry about forking over any money on his offer in the foreseeable future. It is a good PR stunt for him though. It makes him look like a kind and generous guy but he doesn't have to fork over a penny to prove it.

 

In all honesty, there are so many millions more kids in the black community deserving of a scholarship than this piece of debris. He could have set up a scholarship for some kid at Trayvon's highschool. Someone who could actually be somebody but for lack of money.

But Rachel wants to go into law enforcement.

What is she going to be, a police barricade ? Get real folks. She rates nothing.

 

I can't speak for Joyner, it is a noble and kind offer, but Jeantel has to meet certain standards that a college would require, and observing her history, I don't believe she would meet that standard.

 

Horatio Alger Association does an outstanding job of helping young people that lack money for an advanced education, and who have managed to overcome horrific dysfunctional families yet maintain a strong potential for achievement

Jeantel would not meet those requirements

 

She is a 19 year old kid that was put on the national stage obviously with very little, if any, coaching. It is Joyner's money and he can spend where he wants. If you have a problem with that.....

 

Apparently, she has also had very little - if any - coaching on anything in her 19 years of life.

 

She's a 19 year old going into the 11th grade who can't read cursive. She was pressured and coached on what to say. No one can hear wet grass thru a phone.

 

Our education is a bit of a joke as it is, no need to turn it into a celebrity reality show. Let people who have worked for and earned a place go and learn instead of trying to give a free ride to someone who is currently in there 15 minutes of game.

I hope she does do something with her life. I wish nothing but the best for her. However she needs to make the effort herself because if she doesn't learn then what do you think she's going to pass onto her children?
