Globalism dilutes borders, makes culture and the natural order secondary to individual desires. It also lessens patriotism and loyalty as the richest will gladly ship jobs overseas even if it means firing their own countrymen. Trade wars have the opposite effect, in which nations begin competing with each other in order to out perform other nations, or at least to put one's own nation before others.

While the consequences of Trade Wars can be extreme, so are the consequences of globalism. I'm all for Trade wars if necessary to get America into a power position once again.

I agree with one minor exception.
A trade war assumes that there was a level playing field prior to any moves that start the back and forth.

In 2017, 80% of the US Trade deficit was with China, the EU and Mexico.
The US exported about $1.5 Trillion while importing about about $2.3 Trillion leaving a trade deficit for the US of -$800 Billion.
The US exported about $650 Billion to China ($130B), the EU ($283B) and Mexico ($243B).
while importing about $1.25 Tillion from China ($505B), the EU ($434B) and Mexico ($314B).

I would say the US lost the trade war with China, the EU and Mexico - It's time to level the playing field.

China owns $1.5 trillion of the US debt. They could easily demand to be cashed out, and the USA would be in deep doo doo.

Huh? Have you given this any thought at all?

China has several choices - spend the money on US goods, services and property, trade it in on the world market or hold onto it.

There can't be a trade "war" as long as the US has such a massive annual deficit.

They could also demand gold, real stuff, not bond market paper, from Fort Knox, and then you got an all-out shooting war, or the US standard of living goes in the pooper.

China could make all sorts of demands - what the US does is another thing. As I already noted, China has a limited number of options.

The US accounts for about 30% of all Chinese exports - do you think China would want to cut its own throat for no real gain.

There cant be a trade war because the main world customers live in the United States.
