1. It's irrelevant that the hurricane started in Africa.
2. There is no way to distinguish one hurricane from another.

We should call things what they really are. COVID has a specific meaning, and everyone knows what you are talking about. If you say Chinese virus in three years, and we've had two more viruses since, nobody will know what you mean.

 

Hurricanes aren't named after their country of origin, because they typically form out over the ocean, and every storm would be named "Hurricane Atlantic" , and that would be dumb and confusing, right?
