Note: I had to shorten the title

Full Title: Trump is asking appeals court to give him immunity from civil lawsuits linked to the January 6 Capitol riot

    https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-trying-absolute-immunity-january-6-civil-suits-2022-7

    Image8.jpg

    Capitol police officers

Brian Sicknick (died after returning to the station)
    Gunther Hashida*
    Kyle deFreytag*
Jeffrey Smith* (death ruled "in the line of duty because of the injuries he suffered)
    Howard Liebengood*

    * All died by suicide in the months following the Capitol riot.

Hundreds more officers were injured by rioters ganging up on them.

    Image52.jpg

Several lawmakers called him and his staff to plead with him to engage back-up and he ignored them. These were not nameless, faceless people. He knew them by name, probably had lunch with some of them, met their spouses and kids. He knew these people up close and he ignored their pleas.

Some officers and law makers are still in trauma therapy because of their traumatic experiences at the Capitol that day.

Trump tried to point the finger at Pelosi but she was on the people pleading with him to engage back-up. He wouldn't do it. So, we're supposed to believe he wanted them but then refused to call them?

Pence took the lead and went over his head to get back-up as hundreds of officers lay bleeding and broken on our Capitol grounds.

The person that claimed to be a "law and order" president abandoned his post in wanton disregard for human life. He reportedly watched in glee saying to staff members "look at them fighting for me.".

    Meadows
    Pelosi
    Pence
    Ivana
    Don Jr.
    Several lawmakers

They begged him to call them off.

He was the only person that could because he was their volition.

They were there for him. He refused.

He was disappointed that they didn't get their target and they looked "poor" and "trashy" but not an ounce of remorse. He disavowed them but Powell has been bankrolling some of the Oath Keepers because this was his trial run.

    Image17.png

And, for the people that will most likely claim this is unfair, please consider this.

Unlike the lawsuits filed in courts across the country, NEVER about "widespread election fraud", the Appellate Court judge approved this case because IT HAS MERIT. It shows standing so it can move forward.

He was NOT acting in the capacity as our POTUS when he held that rally and he was derelict in his duty to engage back-up as our POTUS.

He should not be granted immunity because he didn't act in his official capacity until the damage was done and he didn't even want to do that.

Then, he turned around the very next day and lied again and continues to tell the Big Lie and blame Pence.

    What do you think?

I think he has only two chances to stop this proceeding - none and Buckley’s

BUT he is the long time expert in tying up lawsuits until everyone else runs out of money

His base said he was not prosecutable during his term — it doesn’t surprise me to see he believes he also shouldn’t be able to be prosecuted after his term.

I hope he gets everything that is coming to him.

Hypothetically speaking, the people I know who are part of his base don't understand how pregnancy works, thinks "a speedy trial" relates to some arbitrary time frame they deem to be "speedy" and he is being persecuted and is infallible.

So, also hypothetically speaking, we really should not rely on their "armchair expert" opinions about much of anything.

He made a mistake in running for public office. He could have remained a private citizen criminal and kept defrauding and bullying people until his Imaginary Sky Daddy called him home.

This might be a stall while his slimy lawyers try to figure out a plea deal. No way he's not guilty. Not guilty people don't act that way.

You guys realize this could open the door to mayors and governors being sued, right? There are numerous examples from the summer of mostly peaceful protests that I could name.

He only has one chance (none), but I had to go to the Google Machine for that second one...

I sure am glad he doesn't get batshit angry after losing in court time after time.....

That is exactly why I think his "unhinged" personality is fake. He's just a bully but he's not dumb enough to try that crap on a judge or Deputy sheriff in a courtroom. His Orange dumbass would be locked up.

Plus, hypothetically, of course, some of his supporters seem to think that a judgment against him that doesn't involve prison time means he's "innocent". One judgments against someone means they have been found at fault. Two, it kind of freaks me out that he has several multimillion dollar judgments against him and they still get starry-eyed and apologetic. Can you imagine how awesome it would be if they channeled all that intensity into caring about people they actually know? The world would be a better place.

You are so silly. I reread that a few times and that's exactly what I got out of it and then, thought, "No, he didn't just post that." LOL

Do you know who doesn’t want Trump sued? His #1 witness, Pelosi.

I would love it if just once, someone close enough to him would get one of his infamous tantrums on video.

No it is not that he is “not dumb enough” it is that when it comes to all things legal he was tutored long time by the “Lawyer for the Mob” Roy Cohn

He forces all his staff, doctors and contracts (wives) to sign ironclad NDAs. That's why Stormy lost her case. That's also how he is able to keep conning people. The people that distanced themselves haven't really been able to speak out about how horrible he must be.

If he can "control" it in a courtroom, he should be able to control it everywhere else. People with true anger management issues can't pick and choose when they unleash.

So, numerous conservative posters on this site claimed that Trump asked for 20,000 extra troops be sent
to the Capitol because he feared violence from the crowds.

He KNEW that request was denied (if he made it). He then proceeded to tell a crowd of thousands that they should march on
the Capitol - even though HE FELT the Capitol was under-protected.

If that isn't a dereliction of his duty to protect, I don't know what is.

So - conservatives. Did he ask for extra protection, and then disregard his own feelings about eminent violence from the crowd, or did
he just not care? You can't claim he asked for 20,000 extra troops to protect the Capitol, and then claim he had no idea
    there would be violence ...

I've heard that being POTUS ages people but that is just unbelievable and then he adds tone-deafness toward those of us that lost a loved on in 9/11. /smdh

I have a friend who lost his wife on 911, how do you think he felt when colleges refused to have a moment of silence on 911 because it’s islamophobic? Up until you created yet another unpartisan ‘I hate Trump’ thread you probably thought the same thing.

So who else can we mock because of their physical appearance and skin color?
