Donald Trump cannot obtain a bond to secure the $454 million civil business fraud judgment against him as he pursues an appeal of the case, his attorneys said in a New York court filing Monday.

Attorneys for Trump and his co-defendants in the fraud case argued that it was “impossible” for them to secure a complete appeal bond, which would “effectively” require “cash reserves approaching $1 billion.”

Defendants’ ongoing diligent efforts have proven that a bond in the judgment’s full amount is ‘a practical impossibility,’” the lawyers wrote, quoting an affidavit in the filing with the Appellate Division of Manhattan Supreme Court.

    Trump was never a billionaire.

    Is anyone surprised?

'BLOODBATH: TRUMP FAILS TO GET APPEAL BOND FOR $454M'

    snip:

"Enforcing an impossible bond requirement as a condition of appeal would inflict manifest irreparable injury on Defendants," Trump's lawyers wrote.

The lawyers asked that he instead be allowed to post a $100 million bond while he appeals the judgment. A bonding company would be on the hook for any payout if Trump loses his appeal and proves unable to pay.

Trump's lawyers included a statement by Gary Giulietti, an executive with insurance brokerage the Lockton Companies, which Trump has hired to help get a bond.

Giulietti wrote that a bond for the full $464 million "is not possible under the circumstances presented," noting that many sureties would not issue bonds above $100 million and were willing to accept only cash or securities - not

    real estate

    - as collateral."

    Maga should chip in.
Let’s say trump has 50 million devoted followers.
They can clear his debt if they each pitch in just $100.
Isn’t making America great again worth a measly $100 bucks?

Looks like, when forced to show his hand, he doesn't have any trump cards, but rather a bunch of blanks.

'Trump flagged as 'massive security risk' after he's unable to post bond in fraud judgment'

    Source: raw story

    Travis Gettys March 18, 2024 11:31AM ET

“The amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $464 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude,” Trump’s lawyers wrote.

That cash crunch made the presumptive Republican presidential nominee a national security risk, according to Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL).

"The fact that we don't know this about someone running for the highest office in the land shifts the liability onto our democracy itself," Casten said. "If the @HouseGOP (and in particular, the leadership of the Judiciary Committee) gave a damn about our democracy they would be issuing subpoenas for this instead of their onanistic Hunter [Biden] fetish. The fact that they aren't tells you what they think about democracy too.

"And yes, there is a massive problem that the Senate isn't doing this either," he added. "That problem rhymes with shmilibuster."

Folks, this is what the left calls GOOD NEWS. Property being seized from someone they don't like is a win, not things like policies, just seeing someone they don't like suffer.
I told ya'll we have a leftist problem in America and I was 100% right. Who else gets off on misery of others? usually terrorist groups (like the left)

I remember when the right were saying that trump hurts the right people and that’s why he was liked.

Also them chanting “f*** your feelings”

Fascinating how y’all are suddenly against making those you don’t like suffer.

That said, I am glad a criminal is being held to account from his shady business practices. I hope this is the first of many.

    Law and order.

As long as these two principles are respected in this country, I'm happy.

If the Orange Turd can't put up the bond, then I guess he can't appeal the case.

    Good.

Then the verdict remains unchallenged and he's guilty of fraud and the good people of NYS can start taking and selling off anything of value that he owns in New York state. Justice prevails.

There is a gofundme page for Trump.

Stand with Trump; Fund the $355M Unjust Judgment

    It is over $1.3M.

I wouldn't call openly celebrating the misery of others "disingenuous", I would just call it "a crappy thing to do".

He needs much more than $355 million....

Come on MAGA, make a little effort.

If a million of you donate $655, Trump's off the hook.

So, if I get caught speeding and have to pay a $300 speeding ticket, would you shed a tear, or would you say I got what I deserved? Why should it be any different for Trump?

do you have a single quote of anyone on the right saying trump hurts the “right people and that’s why he was liked”? It seems you’re still making stuff up but I’ll see if you have the goods this time. I fully expect instant goal post moving in 3,2,1

Lol…nice segue way to your predictable partisan rant.
The truth is that it’s good news for all Americans who respect the rule of law and are tired of seeing rich people evade responsibility for their crimes because they can afford to manipulate the system.
And it’s obvious that America has a maga problem when we see people trying to denigrate our democracy and justice systems just to excuse the crimes of a seditious malignant narcissist.
