A federal judge on Thursday denied Donald Trump's request to delay enforcement of the writer E. Jean Carroll's $83.3 million verdict in her recent defamation case.

    [...]

Kaplan made the verdict official on Feb. 8, and gave Trump 30 days to post a bond or come up with cash during his appeal, which is expected to challenge the jury's finding of liability and the amount of damages.

Trump had sought to delay enforcement of the verdict until the judge ruled on his motions to throw it out, which he filed on Tuesday.

But the judge said Trump should not have waited 25 days after the verdict before seeking a delay.

He also said Trump failed to show how he might suffer "irreparable injury" if required to post a bond.

"Mr. Trump's current situation is a result of his own dilatory actions," the judge wrote.

Ms Carroll will therefore be able to take steps to seize an asset of the Trump Org. to pay for the damages she has suffered.

She must hurry because Trump will soon be insolvent, owing the State of New York more than $433 million.

What's even more comical is that since the Kaplan ruling, Trump hasn't made another defamatory comment against Ms Carroll.

The jury wisely chose the right amount to calm him down

It's in this kind of situation that you recognize a true psychopath.

By the end of 2024, his company will be on life support, and the chances of a criminal conviction are practically 100%.

His wife barely speaks to him anymore, because her idiot husband no longer has the primary attraction she married him for: money.

Melania renegotiated her marriage contract last summer.

Any human being with normal emotions would be on the verge of suicide.

Seems all those windbags can't fess up, Trump, Alex Jones and even Steve Bannon. All swindlers, and they got caught. Trump will be for sale if he gets back in the WH.

I am so glad his typical strategy of wait till the last moment — appeal, push for a delay, appeal again — has been stopped in these cases.

The entire fiasco is a shamshow on US Civil law. Here you have two people who cannot definitively prove a claim, nor have any intention of providing proof and yet there was a judgment for either/or?

Feel bad for Trump, but I feel even worse for the so-called US Legal system. Trump got denied defamation, when clearly CNN intended to be defamatory. Even the judge admitted as such, but due to other technicalities it's like 'nope'.

So like I said, joke of a system and I'll do my best not to be a part of said system.

I’m sure they did. And probably at a substantial premium, too.

    They know Trump will default.

This is entirely Trump's fault. The initial fine was $5 million. Apparently, that wasn't enough to shut him up, because he didn't stop defaming her. So, the fine was upped to $83 million. Apparently, this did the job.

It's interesting, though, to see that he doesn't really have any cash available. What happened to him being so rich that he could self-fund his campaign? Oh, we all knew it was a lie, but his disciples don't care.

You better send him some money, so he can cover his legal fees. It's for a good cause. America's future depends on it. God forbid that he would have to liquidate assets. That would be too much to ask from the supposed billionaire.

As with all his criming, no one else made him do it but himself. Now, he being held to account and is a victim :)!
