Trump claims that he's "too intelligent" to believe in climate change.

yep, and of course local weather does not indicate warming or not.... in fact the poles are melting and that means other areas may get colder as that ice water distribute in the oceans - when the poles get smaller, the warming effect may be even greater down the line

course there may be other variables in play down the road we are unaware of and we may lessen the next ice age too, we will see

Indeed, when confronted with evidence, out comes the excuses and fabrications. Such as both poles are shrinking. The South Pole has gained millions of tons of ice. That added ice is why some calving is happening over the water.

But you use local weather to explain the north pole. Funny innit?

where did I ever say local weather effects the poles? local whether is just that... local

it's the chemicals we put in the air that effect the poles, among other things (many variables)

    And read this from science.

Antarctica Is Gaining Ice, So Why Is the Earth Still Warming?
By Elizabeth Newbern, Staff Writer | November 19, 2015 02:26pm ET

And now the excuses Same article with excuses.

This story was updated at 8:26 p.m. ET.

NASA recently released a study suggesting that the Antarctic Ice Sheet is gaining more ice than it is losing — a finding that, at first blush, seems to contradict the idea of global warming. So, how can Antarctica be gaining ice mass in a warming world where ice sheets are collapsing and the melting is predicted to increase sea levels across the globe?
    =excuses follow=
It turns out that the two phenomena — a growing ice sheet and warming-related melting — are not mutually exclusive. Moreover, the NASA study, which was published Oct. 30 in the Journal of Glaciology, does not disprove global warming.

Rather, the researchers found that snow accumulation is adding more ice to East Antarctica (the huge chunk of the continent to the east of the Transantarctic Mountains) and the interior region of West Antarctica than is being lost as glaciers across Antarctica thin out. More snow accumulation is, counterintuitively, a sign of global warming; more precipitation happens when there is more moisture in the air, and more moisture in the air is a product of higher temperatures, said Elizabeth Thomas, a glaciologist with the British Antarctic Survey. The article say it's tied for the 7th (2007) lowest amount of sea ice in 40 year history of satellite data. Also, higher than the last 5 years so #WINNING!

Sea ice in the Artic increased and that didn't make the news? I wonder why?

    I was seconding the motion.

Wintry Weather Brings Spring Snow to SoCal Mountains

9 years ago I went to the California 500 in Fontana, on the weekend of March 23, 2000 it was above 90 degrees. Snow in May in SoCal? If this is global warming, I like it.

Possibly because sea ice increases every winter. And decreases every summer.

Today it is at a record low (for this date). By a lot.

Not by a lot. Perhaps this will turn out to be normal. That earlier times were excessive.

Follow the money. Trillions have been spent in 30 years and the best these "brilliant" scientists can come up with is fossil fuels? They are mega rich off this and getting richer, and yet have nothing to show for it. But they will keep milking it, because these Democrat doofusses just blindly take their word for it after 30 years of nothingness, and aren't the least suspicious. They are SUCH jokes.

Not by a lot? Do you see how far away it is from the lower edge of the inter decile range?

it's the type of ice... there is more to it then your making out... the time to measure is when it is the lowest, not when it's fresh

Why is the ice different, as you claim?

it's about Ice density, less dense ice can take up more space, but is it really more ice, that is why they measure at it's minimum

I have been complaining to forums for years that this is what to do. I simply say plant more plants. But with the aid of animals look at the wonder of change.

Less dense ice is a sign or more air in the ice.

Still we know glaciers have been returning to Greenland, the South Pole once losing ice is gaining ice. All while Earth is supposed to be in a panic that we have but 12 more years.

The Ted talk shows that if man actually want to effect a cure, he can. We have scientists less interested in frightening you as to present genuine solutions.

Yes I see that, which explains why you continually confuse weather and climate.

Must be because teaching students the difference happens in grade 10 geography.

If you have noticed how far it is from the lower edge of the inter decile range, and you understand what that means, then you will realise that this year it is down by a lot.
The planet is definitely warming. There is no doubt about that.
The vast majority of scientists who study climate agree that mankind is the major influence in the recent dramatic warming.

This is a typical case of the tragedy of the commons. The only way to address such a tragedy is through collective action. Republicans deny climate change because
    - they don't like the fact that solutions call for collective action (they prefer to be left alone to do whatever they want); and
    - they don't like that many of the solutions that have been proposed so far result in higher taxes, and they are opposed to taxation in principle.

It is the height of intellectual dishonesty to reject the science because you don't like the solutions that have been proposed.

Treat the symptoms not the cause. The best kind solution according to drug companies. Why not fossil fuel companies as well?
