https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...-latest-stimulus-offer/ar-BB19TsFj?li=BBnb7Kz I know my title's grammatically different, but it's smaller and gets all the information in. Essentially, Trump pushed it up to 1.8 trillion, which I previously thought would actually get the deal done. Well, for those who go "Trump, Trump, Trump" let me take the time(and this brilliant example) to show you how the government actually works in the US. The Congressional Republicans balked because they didn't want to spend more than the 1.6 trillion(or hell, even the 1.5) that they offered. This doesn't technically come as too much of a surprise, but I feel like Trump could have won them over with the middle ground number that made logical sense by appealing to them that it isn't 2.2 trillion. And that it was funded with leftover money. (Note that as I say too much of a surprise, I'm not saying this disparagingly. I too think the government wastes its spending and when it does, the spending is no longer healthy or productive.) But even if Trump could successfully negotiate the improved offer with congressional Republicans, guess who continues to show me that she's the worst speaker of all time, hands down and her removal cannot come any sooner too bad California will likely keep her. I had previously believed that 1.8 trillion would get the deal done. I had hoped that Nancy Pelosi was competent, and worthy of the post she currently occupies. Well, her statement just about says it all: "It's like taking one step forward, two steps back." OH...MY...GOD. That makes four, count them FOUR deals that she's rejected in 18 months(The government reopening that would have granted amnesty to immigrants, the infrastructure bill that she annulled herself, the budget deals and now this.) She has literally destroyed any chance of legislative progress in her time as majority house speaker. This is how government works, this is why she's worse than Orange Man Bad. Do you think she'll be better able to negotiate with Joe Biden? It's not partisan, Pelosi is seriously incapable of occupying this post. Had Pelosi even been lukewarm, it would've been possible to bring in Republicans. But Pelosi thinks she's playing with a stronger hand than she actually has(or probably sees the administration leaving, and like everyone else, blames the administration for her daily, easy to see incompetence). Seriously, listen to a Kevin McCarthy speech. Even if you're not a conservative, you'll know that the House would be in better hands under McCarthy than Pelosi. Were I a Dem rep, I would have plotted a plan by now to remove Pelosi from House Speaker. There's over 210 Democrats, why do they subject themselves to Pelosi's incompetence when at any time they could choose a new House Speaker? Hell, AOC would've been better because she would say to herself that 1.6(or hell 1. 5 is better than nothing at all(and there's no guarantee of a Biden win.) As long as Pelosi is speaker of the House, don't expect anything until after the election. That's because Pelosi has zero negotiation ability, zero ability to read the room. and zero desire. When you lack both desire and ability, Trump should have stuck to his instincts. Walk away.
At some point Nancy pledge that she would not seek the speakership again after the 2020 election in order to get it one last time. I don't agree with what they want, but I am not going to shed a tear that it keeps another round of corporate subsidies are not going out.
No. The issue is McConnell’s lack of engagement. These proposals would pass in the Senate if brought to the floor. He’s allowing the minority to disrupt the majority. When it’s not Meadows or the Freedom caucus in the way it’s Trump’s indecision. It will be easier after the election when Trump resigns and Pence pardons him to isolate the Freedom caucus.
So, because Republicans will not agree to the stimulus at any amount and the Senate is abdicating their constitutional duty by making the House negotiate with the White House (who has said no stimulus until after he is re-elected) this is Pelosi’s fault... Ok...
Trump returned to the table, gave the 1.8 trillion dollar offer.(and they are not abdicating their duty. There's nothing unconstitutional about the WH negotiating with the House. The WH may not legislate, but it says NOTHING about not talking about the details of the legislation. That might seem like a slight of hand, but if it is, it's one that started 1985 or so. That cat has long been out the bag, and complaining about it now, like always is about one thing and one thing alone: Orange Man Bad. See, the Republicans refusal(which as I said was understandable) could actually be bent to their favor given unpopularity, closeness to the elections and the middle ground. All that incompetent hack had to do, was see the forest for the trees. Trump's private life informs a lot of his decisions here, like myself, Trump sees that Pelosi lacks any credible negotiation ability(seriously, imagine not that she's the speaker but the CEO. She would've turned away a lot of investors and lost a lot of capital.). I would've gotten a deal done, anyone would've gotten a deal done. The tenants are there for a deal to get done, the participants however are not.
There isn't even a vote tallied yet on the House for these proposals. When will you stop making excuses for her ineptitude? She's the House Donald, and she's a D so she gets a pass for it.
I have complained every time the executive branch has been given more authority than was originally intended. I understand if you have to take this to a tired internet meme because of a personal lack of consistency but it isn’t on my part. You cannot blame one chamber of congress for this when the entire other chamber has already said no and an irrelevant party in the negotiations changes his view with every other tweet. Well you can, I guess... Maybe throw out another meme! The participants being the House (that is sending bills) and the Senate (that is refusing to negotiate at all). Got it.
Add this one to your score card. The White House again pivoted its approach to stimulus negotiations on Sunday, with the president’s aides pushing for immediate action on a narrow measure after the administration’s $1.8 trillion proposal was rebuffed by members of both parties. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...bipartisan-backlash/ar-BB19V1HJ?ocid=msedgntp
Yes, you just linked to what I linked to and I'm aware that it was rebuffed by 'members of both parties'. See, I'm capable of overseeing their objections. And so is Trump. A deal would have gotten done within HOURS if Pelosi gave it her backing. The reasoning is glaringly obvious: Citizenry pressure, weak Republican Party and even the Democrats would benefit. But people don't understand, because negotiations normally happen between contractee and contractor, between boss and employee. You don't normally see negotiations play out like this.
Vacate literally every position in government in all three branches (including the bureaucracy) and start again.
The Senate's participation or non participation in the negotiations is irrelevant. The House is the originator of bills(glad we agree there.). The Senate can also originate bills, but nominally it's business is to vote on the bills that come from the House. And there isn't a lack of consistency on my part. If there is, it's because I am making philosophically sound arguments about what should happen under the restrictions of the Republic rather than my Imperial wishes. Under our current system, nothing that's happening as far as the negotiations is 'illegal'. Pelosi isn't pushing for impeachment 3.0 due to the talks. Enough said, she'd peach for anything. But she won't for this.
She certainly knows how to fill the party coffers, but this is a tad more important than that we'd both agree here.
It has nothing to do with the party coffers as you say, but rather helping all Americans not just a chosen few.
Another stimulus check would be nice for the people, but Pelosi can't see above herself. Again, the reality is a deal would've gotten done if I'm speaker. You know it, I know it and we all know it.
