Seems folks are starting to notice the obvious.

Indeed, it seems sadly and painfully clear to me that the Republican obsession with labeling everything Soros funded or controlled is nothing more than a disguised trope, a shout out to all white supremacists with those tiki torches chanting about some ugly conspiracy theory.

It all seems to me that the rants by the likes of Don and Ron, invoking Soros is a call to the polite white supremacist sympathizers in their followers that fear that Jewish people really are controlling things to punish them.
    https://news.yahoo.com/trump-desant...s-smear-after-bragg-indictment-191729026.html

In his statement condemning the Manhattan grand jury indictment of Donald Trump, Florida Gov. and likely Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis mentioned neither the former president nor the district attorney who will prosecute the case, Alvin Bragg, by name. But he did name-check George Soros, a favorite target of antisemitic conspiracy theories — twice.

For some, the implication was obvious.

“It’s hard to even call it a dog whistle of antisemitism,” former assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Weissman said of the Florida governor’s statement in a cable news appearance.

Soros indirectly helped fund Bragg’s run for office, but he is not involved in the case against the former president, which is focused on an allegedly improper 2016 payment to the former adult-film actress Stormy Daniels.

Soros and Bragg have never met.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and other Republicans similarly invoked Soros in denouncing the decision to indict Trump.

As Stacy Abrams eats another donut, Soros gave money to a group who then gave the money to Bragg. It’s Soros money and it went to Bragg.

Alvin L. Bragg received support in his 2021 campaign from a group backed by George Soros. Soros donated a million to the group, and the group gave Bragg reportedly a half million for his campaign.

Got nothing to do with antisemitism, it's about buying our government system.
Doesn't matter if they met or not, Soros millions bought Bragg the seat and now Soros is getting his playback.
So what. Soros is a danger to our system and our follow Americans that have to live in the bastardized legal system that Soros money is buying.

Isn't that just part of the "they are controlling us" trope?

Nope. We know exactly who's doing it and the results are duplicated in every case where he's spent. New York, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, and so on. Prosecutors turning into social workers. Crime and violence sky rocketing in each city.

So what? Republican billionaires don't fund PACs? The one that Soros contributed to, which helped elect Bragg, I believe had the goal of helping minority candidates. So by painting this as something evil, the critic is not just demonizing Jews, but is seemingly being racist against black people (who have the nerve to run for office).

Another Right wing poster, here, besides falsely implying that Soros had personally picked out all of the DAs which received funding, indirectly from his contributions, had accused them all of "refusing to prosecute" violent criminals/felons. This only seemed like so much nonsense, until I now put together that all those to which he referred,
were probably black. So this is the new racist code: since you can't just state their obvious fault of being black (in most company), you all come up with some stereotyped offense. If it's a black DA, that becomes "a DA who doesn't prosecute violent felons (a.k.a., black criminals)."

Unintended consequences. Republicans should have thought of that when the appointed Supreme Court judges with the intent to ram through Citizens United, allowing almost unlimited dark money into politics. Of course, they believed at the time that CU would enable them to win all future elections, because the big money favored them. It didn't work out that well, did it.

Newsflash to the GOP: Maybe, instead of trying to buy more votes through unlimited funding, or trying to suppress votes, they could actually try to appeal to more voters. Of course, this would require that they move away from the far, fringe right. So, not a chance that this will happen. In the meantime, they attack Dems for the dark money monster that the GOP created themselves. Typical.

Remember, money is speech. YOUR SC court did that.

Anyone complaining about Soros should want campaign finance reform.

Soros isn't the problem, the fact that super wealthy people can buy elections is.

Nothing antisemitic about the republican's problem with Soros. It is all about policy. Soros is behind all the new DA's that are soft on crime. I think republicans view that as a problem. I agree with them. It is a devastating problem.

He is the super wealthy person that bought elections for all of these DA's that are soft on crime. Perhaps that helps explain the problem.

Yea, no one should be able to do that.

We should try to get a law passed to prevent it or something.

Passing laws doesn't fix anything in a corrupt judicial system. Voters need to change the names on the office doors.

By promising to forgive student debt (and then say it's not his fault when the courts rule he can't).

Soros is the problem. His modus operandi is destabilizing currencies to profit from their decline.

Thats got nothing to do with him buying elections. It should not be possible for anyone to spend so much money on our elections.
