Trump has NO mandate

Many Trump supporters and even folks on his team are claiming Trump won a "mandate" to pursue his full agenda.

This is simply false.

He lost the national Popular vote by more than 2 million votes.

He lost the Electoral vote and Popular vote in 20 states.

The Dems gained a bigger filibuster vote in the Senate.

Trump only won cause many Democrats stayed home, not cause Republican voters came out in much bigger numbers.

If we followed the election rules of most nations on Earth, Trump would NOT be the President-elect.


So no, Trump has no mandate. No more than Bush had in 2001.

If he's smart, he will not push an extreme agenda. He will moderate every one of his goals and ideas, and I mean every single one.

Otherwise he is setting up the Democrats to win back the Senate in 2018 and maybe even the House.

So tread lightly, donald.

 

He's moderating his stances. Congress would be wise to work with him or they'll get canned next midterm.

 

You guys will whine if he does, in fact many on the left are already whining.

Mandates are imaginary regardless of who wins or loses.

The fact is he won and has a majority throughout government.

I have no idea what agenda he will pursue or whether he will be a good or bad or average president but he can do what he likes and what people elected him for regardless of whether you and the other regressives on the left wing like it. It appears he will not do all he promised on the campaign trail which is not surprising since ALL politicians break their promises and back off from them once they win.

However the agenda he proposed was NOT extremist even if many details were simply unworkable ( like the fence ).

He has already done the most important thing which is to pimp slap the hell out of SJWs and PC lefties.

he has moderated or reversed the following stances:

-deport all illegals.

-pull out of NATO

-pull out of climate change accords

-indict hillary

-pull out of iran nuclear deal.

The Democrats are not stupid. They will work with him when they can, and oppose him when they must.

We are not like the GOP, who obstruct even on issues of agreement, simply for the purpose of obstruction.

 

I said this a few days ago.

Even Democrats need to keep this in mind. All this business of, "if we did this or that we would have gotten more votes and won" is reasoning from a false premise, we DID win, but what would have helped us would have been greater turnout of Dems in key states, something rather more difficult to campaign for.

 

You don't have a mandate for your agenda, when you lose the Popular vote by MILLIONS.

 

We're building a barrier between us in Mexico, we will send moreresources. We WILL deport all criminal aliens.

Iran I think we will pull it off the table, but then again Obama screwed it up so bad that we can never get those economic sanctions on them.

He is going to be hard on all our allies to start lift some of their own load, yet we won't abandon them.

We will renegotiate the trade deals. We will be hard on China.


There WILL be tax cuts. Corporate and personal rate.

We will also invest in infrastructure.

So yeah democrats and republicans have alot of work to do and must prove themselves. These agenda items are essential and must be done or there will be hell to pay.

Regardless of what you think, he"ll govern as if he has a mandate, and rightly so and there is not a damn thing you will be able to do about it. You will have your next opportunity in 2020, meanwhile in 2018 Trump will have a shot at a filibuster proof majority.
