Schumer owns this shut down. Schumer is a hypocrite as he voted for a border wall and security when it benefited his party. Now he is against it to spite the White House.

    Schumer shut down 2.0

My time would be wasted trying to replicate the logic that got you to your conclusion. Explain the logic. Or don’t. I don’t care a whole lot.

Obviously you don't care about the facts. But you care about lodging the accusations that support your bias.

So be it. Couldn't care myself.

I of course support ending our envolvment in Syria, but that doesn’t mean a flat out retreat while claiming victory is the answer. He should have listened to his military advisors. He could have given a timeframe for getting us out and told them to make a plan that works best for those goals and the people of Syria. He does things on a whim and it’s destructive.

I think as long as trump keeps trying to keep his promises, as he just did with in regards to US forces in Syria, against the wishes of his military advisors, and people like Bolton, neocons, and military industrial complex players, trump will keep most of his support. He is trying to get that promised wall, even if he cannot figure out how to get mexico to pay for it.

No other president has worked this hard on keeping promises. And it matters to the kind of people who voted for trump, but also for sanders. People that demand change and want to be heard.

At least we agree on the irrelevance of the others opinion.

And create another afghanistan? How long would be keep military forces in syria? Perhaps build a few big bases?

We should have never meddled in syria, and getting out in a hurry is the best decision ever made.

We got bigger fish to fry, to devote treasure to, in place of these perpetual wars. Like China. Look at the damned national debt! How large can it get? Before the inevitable happens? How powerful would be be if the whole thing came crumbling down? We are bleedning lives and treasure with these wars that we involve ourselves in, and even cause, or at least contribute.

We cannot afford your position. We don't have that luxury.

Yep, nothing like sticking out nose where it didn’t belong in the first place, then losing our stomach for it and then turning tail and thereby making the situation worse than if we hadn’t been there at all. This is America’s legacy when it comes to war.

Pelosi/Schumer are clinging to McConnell - their last best hope.

If McConnell wanted a moment in time for redemption, that time is now.

True - Pelosi said a wall is "immoral"! She didn't say "not the most cost-effective way to keep out illegals", she said "IMMORAL"!!

How many years have we been involved in syria? How long did ww2 last? See the problem? If not, then I can lead a horse to water, but damn if I can make him drink.

Using the term, "turning tail and running", is clever, but it doesn't work on me. Not given the facts of us and syria. I don't see your comment as at all serious, and certainly not a reasonable thing to say.

Hint. We are not wanted in Syria by the Syrian gov't. Now, get it? But it was really never about isis was it? It was about toppling assad, right? And if we get out, by god, how will be be able to continue to work against him and syria? And if he does not want us in his nation, with our military, then screw him, right? ha ha Sounds like a criminal thug, not him, but the US. Trump did the right thing. And had the guts to do it. Against forces that want to remain in syria, forever.

So then you don’t understand that shutdowns cost us money? No money is saved.

    Agreed.

It blows my mind when he stands before a mic and says "my esteemed colleagues in the Democratic Party, etc., etc.,...." And then when he's done and turns to leave, he reveals dozens of blue arrows in his back. WTH?

I don’t think Trump’s veto threat is “abrupt”, a few days ago he absolutely ‘owned’ the threatened veto if he didn’t get funding for the wall. Congress gave him the funding, but the Senate has to approve. Though Trump may count on 52 Senators, he needs 60 and it doesn’t look like he can get 8 Democrat Senators to support. Trump is just making clear what he told Pelosi and Schumer; no wall money means he will veto a Senate funding bill without that money.

Lot's of capitulation and failures to follow through with objectives. Worse, allowing Senate Democrats to misrepresent and distort with impunity.

Look, I’ll admit plainly that I don’t know all the fine details of our envolvment in Syria (we’ve got too many wars going for to long to keep up with them all any more).

Mattis was one of the few nominations of Trumps that I ever respected and now I see the secretary of defense resigning because of the Presidents decision. Are we to believe Trump understands the situation better than his top advisors? I don’t. He was told he’s making a mistake and he chose to make the mistake because of the collective jerking knees of his base. He doesn’t trust in the people who highered to help him lead when they tell him what he doesn’t want to hear. He doesn’t have the temperament to lead.
