    https://www.propublica.org/article/...-to-countries-that-dont-need-or-cant-use-them

    What an cluster muck up!
Question is he also donating circuits? (you know the bit that people actually breathe through?) Does this donation include the drugs required to support a patient on a ventilator? The tubes that need to be inserted into the airway to attach the ventilator to? How about trained medical staff to operate them?

The article is spot on it would have been cheaper and more effective if they had donated medical oxygen and a device capable of “High Flow Nasal Prong” therapy - especially to countries with little or no medical infrastructure.

A few months ago, lefties were shrieking about the need for ventilators.

Trump builds them, DONATES them to other countries-and you are complaining?

If Trump does it - they spin it and complain complain complain. Like I said in another thread, the Trump hatred with the left is bordering on psychosis. When he wins in November the mental health wards are going to be full to capacity.

We never needed those vents, not even in New York where the leftist governor killed thousands.

If its not over yet then you don't know those countries won't need the vents WE donated that THEY didn't have.

And the "following federal guidelines" is a lie. The state and local govt's are primary in any emergency, NOT the feds. And there was no federal guideline to FORCE nursing homes to accept china virus patients-that was entirely Cuomo.

    CDC tracker updated TODAY.

    Deaths per 100k....

    Florida 21.2

    Texas 12.0

    New York 278.3

We do know from bitter past experience, and it is outlined in the OP, is that it is useless to donate equipment to countries that do not have the infrastructure to support the use of such equipment. Airvos would have been a far far better donation for third world countries as they are simpler to use, do not require hugely expensive infrastructure to maintain and can be taught to use in around 15 minutes

    It is not over yet

And ((((((sigh!))))) I had hoped I had made it clear that just having the machine is a totally useless exercise in complete futility if you do not also have
    • The equipment to place an Endotracheal tube
    • An endotracheal tube
    • A clean circuit for each patient
    • Humidifiers and or HMEs
    • Filters - preferably HEPA
    • Suction equipment - preferably in line
    • Medical air and oxygen supplies
    • Drugs (short supply worldwide)
    • Trained personnel
    • ABG analysers
    • Etc etc etc

They designed a ventilator that uses a bucket and tire, I dont think they built any let alone donated them.

With its limited economy and small population, they aren't able to do much more.

Its always most amusing when govt incompetence and tax dollars wasted is defended by a bunch of fake conservatives. See the idea here, was to find a medical need, and fill it effectively with the right donation so that tax dollars are not wasted and lives are not lost.

But Trump does not care about the taxpayer, or who dies from covid.

The old gray ventilator, aka the deathalator, ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be, many ten thousands of deaths ago:

"But research now suggests that even with this method of treatment — which involves sedating and intubating a patient to insert a breathing tube — older COVID-19 patients face dismal survival rates. As a result, some physicians are rethinking this approach. “We know now that not everyone who presents with serious respiratory illness needs an invasive ventilator,” says Lewis Kaplan, M.D., president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and a general, trauma and critical care surgeon at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

A study published this week in The Lancet showed a high mortality rate — described to the media as “horrific” by the study authors — among older patients, particularly those with underlying conditions. The study itself looked at critically ill patients with a median age of 62 who were treated at two New York City hospitals in March and April. Looking at those over age 80 who were put on a ventilator, the authors found that more than 80 percent did not survive. By comparison, no patients under the age of 30 died at the two hospitals, and only a small number in that age group had to be put on ventilators."

    https://www.aarp.org/health/conditi...entilator-use-older-coronavirus-patients.html

But using deathalators pays hospitals good money and they take it when they can get it.

Well meaning and kudos for thinking of places that do not have electricity but this is one person not the PM of the country and what he has designed can be made locally. But this has been an issue all along - there has been a focus on just the ventilators and not the infrastructure required to support them. As I said - one person and you would STILL be better off donating medical oxygen and Airvos

    This is a novel virus.

Nobody knew what the need was going to be. Nobody still knows-including you.

Estimates were millions would die and hundreds of thousands of vents would be needed.

    https://www.npr.org/sections/health...emic-spreads-will-there-be-enough-ventilators

So are you suggesting that Trump should not have built those vents, and instead waited until people were dying so as to be more frugal and not be a "fake conservative"?
