Trump is going to get trounced in the debates

As the first debate approaches there is one burning question in the minds of voters. Which Donald Trump is going to appear, the rabble rousing, white supremacist, loud mouthed, arrogant, narcissistic Trump or the calm, mild-mannered, highly disciplined, teleprompter reading Trump?

Logic must take over as one attempts to be prescient here. The casual observer would note that the new Trump of the past month is a product of new management, primarily Kellyanne Conway. She and his new CEO, Stephen Bannon, have apparently confided in him. Change your persona or lose the election. Those are the only two choices. Strangely enough, it appears Trump listened. That is practically a first. He and his campaign people should be congratulated. His poll numbers are rising.

But there is a problem here. Trump’s campaign began in June 2015. He rolled through the primaries dispatching sixteen rivals, no small accomplishment. His approach was bombastic and he often appeared to be his own worst enemy. He spoke off the cuff, often times not brilliantly. He attracted a certain following that forgave him for his every mistake. It did not matter how crude he was. Call Mexicans rapists and drug addicts, weaken NATO, attack the mother of an American hero, call on Second Amendment supporters to do what needs to be done, it did not matter. He was forgiven.

Many think that is the real Trump. The new, fake Trump is controlled by his managers and prepared speeches on a teleprompter. His managers will not be around when Trump appears on that stage for the debates. There will be no teleprompters telling him what to say. Recently we saw the resurgence of the real Trump. He tacitly admitted he had lied for five years and finally admitted that Obama was born in the U.S. The real Trump offered no apologies to our President. The real Trump facetiously accused the Clinton campaign of starting the birther controversy in 2008, a perfectly ludicrous assertion.

In the debates Trump will be out of his new and controlled element. If he acts like he did in the primary debates, he is doomed. In them he fed red meat to his cheering followers. This time he faces a general audience, not just Republican sycophants. Both the real and the new Trump are sketchy on details. Hillary is a specialist in details. That is her comfort zone. There is very little doubt that Hillary will dominate the debates. In addition to being an expert on specifics, she has all that ammo the real Trump gratuitously provided. As he realizes he is losing, the real Trump may even lose his cool.

A few days after the first debate, watch Hillary’s numbers soar in the polls while Trump’s numbers correspondingly fall to new lows.

Clinton's team needs to take lessons from the Republican primary debates, which was more of a fighting fest if anything. Every time Bush or Rubio or anyone else made a point, Trump would come back with a one-liner, mock them, change the subject, whatever distraction you can think of in a debate environment, Trump has done it. Trump will have to do more than just generalize like he did in the Commander-in-Chief Town Hall.

The libs, the establishment and the media have stupidly lowered the expectations so far that all Trump will need to do is restrain himself and be/act presidential. It won't matter one bit whether he makes sense or says the truth, no one will care. All he needs to do is to exceed the absurdly low expectations of "the rabble rousing, white supremacist, loud mouthed, arrogant, narcissist" as the OP put it.

It's a tall order for Trump, I will be the first to admit that but he won't need to beat Hillary on fine points of obscure policies and laws, all he'll need is to show self control and style.

Honestly, nothing is certain. He was supposed to be trounced yet he is making a comeback in the polls. I think anyone that predicts things like this "oh its going to be a landslide" etc on both sides, are morons.

I think Trump has the opportunity to put Hillary away.

The first time she begins coughing and hacking, it's only going to take a few words from Trump to end Hillary's campaign.

Imagine, she's coughing, sipping water, can't get a word out (like many of her campaign appearances have shown) and Trump only has to say, "Look at her, she's dying right in front of us."

I'm no fan of Trump, but like most of us I detest the lying sleaziness of Hillary Clinton. I think Trump will be at his best confronting her over her many, many lies and unlike a traditional politician, will not allow her to slide her way through the debate, even when the left wing moderators do their best to help her, as many expect.

I still expect Hillary, with her vast medical issues (we really still do not know what's going on with her, heath wise) to somehow withdrawal from the debates. If she was still up in the polls, this would be a foregone conclusion. But now that Trump is actually leading in many polls, expect the typically dirty lying Hillary to get creative.

I expect her to say Trump is too much of a bully to debate. And while this will gain her leftist mainstream media sympathy, I expect most Americans will see it as the BS it is...

Hillary cant stand up on a 75 degree day in the shade much less debate trumo standing on her feet under those HOT lights for three hours. She looked like she was drugged on that plane when discussing the NY bombings. Shell probably be in ICU by the time the debates roll around anyway. The premise of the thread is ridiculous. A child could destroy Hillary in debate at this point with stone cold facts of everything shes actually done.
The deplorable comment alone lost her millions of supporters. The younger crowd is fleeing from her like she is shooting zika darts at them.
These debates are going to be the most watched television event in history. That's assuming she makes it to the debates without falling on her face again.

Trump doesn't do well in the evenings.. He repeats himself, talks on a 5th grade level and is often incoherent. If he loses his temper and goes on the attack, he's toast.

When it comes to policy? Yes, he'll be trounced, and will likely continue his tradition of not offering any real policy to speak of. However, he's good at blustering, which is all most of his followers care about at this point. He'll "win" in that regard.

Trump will take no crap or lie from Hillary. He will call her out. For that he will be called a bully and harassing a female by the media and the dems. Hopefully Hillary will not pass out during the debate.

    ^^^ This here.

If it were anyone but Hillary, I'd agree with the OP. She's not very well spoken. I watched Michelle Obama give a speech the other day. Clinton wishes she had half her oratory skill.

The way the media treats Trump, all he has to do is show up with his pants zipped up and his hair combed and not drool too much and they'll declare it a success

Trump is deplorable. Some Republicans are so loyal they won't admit it. The Republican Party is shrinking already and Trump will weaken it further.

    Hillary is that weak.

She may not make it through a debate. She may need a handler to tell her to keep talking.
She may have to be held up by her handlers.

It sucks to support Hillary and have her flaws in front of you but pretend she has none.

Then why have voters abandoned Hillary in droves to support Donald Trump instead? They are not ALL angry White males, unless leftist snowflake White males are also defecting from Hillary's camp. So they are tons of minorities of various types. Oh . . . dear!

As for the debate, if Hillary runs on her accomplishments then she is toast.

... his 'party' away, for a good amount of time (if he wins).

Side-effects come with guy either way, some of which the RNC is already suffering. They won't say it out loud... but I'm almost certain they DO NOT want Trump to win this election.

Today Slate e-zine reluctantly admitted that college youths have abandoned Hillary in droves for the two third party candidates -- and who knew that there were two of them? Meanwhile Trump's popularity and general support are growing by leaps and bounds.

As for Hillary, if she stands by her record as Secretary of State then Donald Trump will trounce her.

Hillary is deplorable. Some Democrats are so loyal they won't admit it. The Democratic Party is shrinking already and Hillary will weaken it further.

Welcome to 2016, where both candidates are despised by almost everyone. No one trusts them. Sadly, I thought this, of any year, would have been the year of the third party. But party sheep will sheep...

I'm sure the party apparatus doesn't want him to win. Heck, neither do I. But when you look at who WILL win if he doesn't, it's a nightmare come to life.

Hillary has to be the sleaziest politician of all time. She lies about virtually everything, no on trusts her and try explaining to your daughter how marrying the right guy is the only way to advance your career. If not for Bill, Hillary would be a detested junior college professor in the midwest who the students would make fun of for smelling funny.

    How does this happen?

I'm hoping one of the VPs is elevated within the first few months...
