Written entirely by Congress. Trump was just the cheerleader, and he signed the bill. That's it.

He has nothing for the economy except sign some EO's which can be rescinded with a signature.

You read these actions to fit your own invented narrative. Trump also walked away from the summit you forget. You never Trumpers were jumping up and down with glee. Now it is back on. TDS has you on an emotional roller coaster and America is getting sick of it.

Yes I know you agree in selling out Americas innovations to lessor countries. In your mind, it is the road to peace.....kumbaya. We must become poor to identify with lessor countries. Nations have only taken advantage of our leaders stupidity and Trump does not blame them. If we are going to lead, we need to be all we can be. No one can hold that against us. Our system is the best on earth. They are welcome to join us.....we don't need to join them.

I deal with facts as shown by the post you are responding to. Facts you cannot dispute.

You deal in conjecture, characterizations, fantasy, and ad hominem attacks. Your rarely deal with reality.

Completely ludicrous nonsense. We have the largest economy in the world, nearly twice that of our nearest competitor, China. Selling out America? What in the world are you talking about?

What is Trump talking about? We consume far more than any other single nation. Naturally, we will have a trade deficit with any other nation. But we are not losing money. Using yours and Trump's logic, I have a trade deficit with Amazon. I have given them a lot of my money. But, wait, I have received goods for that money, goods I wanted. That is why I bought them. The same is true of the goods we receive from Canada, Mexico, and the EU. We want those goods. They play a major role in our economy.

Yes, we should do everything we can to protect the intellectual property of the U.S. and Americans, but that is an issue with China, not Canada, Mexico, and the EU. Trump is the one who wants to protect jobs in China.

Trump tweeted, "President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!"

You are backing the wrong horse.

you deal only in subjective interpretation influenced by a severe case of TDS. When it is revealed how the Dpt. of Justice and FBI had top officials colluding to bring down our President, perhaps you will change your tune and the Media will straighten up their act.

When other countries use tariffs and governments (especially communist/socialist entities) subsidize their products, it makes it unfair trade. Hint: that is why we have lost industry in America dating back to the late sixties. Free trade must be fair trade.

You are getting truly hilarious. Where are you getting your information? The Trump playbook or Sean Hannity?

Do you realize you never say anything. You can't defend Trump with facts because the facts say otherwise. All you can do is attack the messenger of the facts.

In this way, you are the archetype of the typical Trump supporter, his friends.

Some in the media are concerned about how prepared Trump will be when he meets with Kim at the summit. To this Trump replied, "I don't think I have to prepare very much," Trump said. "It's about attitude. It's about willingness to get things done."

This is true irony only possible because Trump is President. Trump is not looking forward to the G-7 meeting.

"Thanks to his ill-considered, self-defeating, pointlessly belligerent trade “policies,” no one is particularly excited to see him. France and Germany have said they may not sign the joint statement that typically concludes these gatherings, filling all parties with the warm glow of global cooperation. Emmanuel Macron is tweeting warning shots. (“The American President may not mind being isolated, but neither do we mind signing a 6 country agreement if need be. Because these 6 countries represent values, they represent an economic market which . . . is now a true international force,” he fired off Thursday afternoon.) Justin Trudeau has called Trump’s tariffs “laughable” and said that his “unacceptable actions are going to harm his own citizens.” Angela Merkel has vowed to take Trump to task on trade and Iran." Vanity Fair.

On the other hand, Trump is looking forward to meeting the communist North Korean dictator who had his uncle and brother assassinated and has imprisoned hundreds of thousands of dissidents. Last week he entertained the dictator's top assassin at the White House. Go figure.

    Putin is quite pleased.

The economy is all Trump supporters have and the funny thing is Trump has had very little impact on the economy except in a negative way. His trade war with our friends and allies will cause consumer prices to go up. When prices go up, demand goes down. When demand goes down, so does employment.

The latest numbers from The Trade Partnership, a DC-based economics research firm, suggests that the impact will be even worse than originally estimated. Some 400,000 jobs will be lost, with 16 losses for every job created by the tariffs, the group said today.

The economy is roaring because Republicans control Congress. Wall Street loves Republicans and their kind now run both the Senate and the House. Trump is not a Republican. Wall Street and corporate heads love Republicans because they favor less regulation and lower taxes. Congress wrote the tax bill. Trump cheered them on and signed the bill.

That's it. That is the only piece of legislation Trump has signed that significantly sparked the economy. Trump has way to go before he can claim credit for the economy. There were 76 straight months of job growth under Obama. Trump has 16. Because the economy had to recover from the Great Recession begun under another Republican administration, Obama was instrumental in several pieces of legislation designed to improve the economy. Some worked. Some didn't.

So much for the economy if you are trying to help Trump.

Funny how you say Trump sparked the economy then try to deny it. True TDS. Are these the same economists that said the economy would tank if Trump got elected?

Yeah, this is how Trump takes care of his friends, the Chinese. As he said, he was quite concerned about Chinese jobs.

He is far less concerned about American jobs.

You picked a real winner. Another archetype of the typical Trump supporter. A real genius.

Didn't he say something about protecting the American worker during his election campaign? I could swear he said about that. Guess he really didn't mean it.

I will ask the same questions I asked on one of the other threads. Do you think the tariffs charged by the US and the countries the US trades with are fair to the US?
Do you think the US should do anything about it?

One other questions. What do you think we should do about it?

Trump’s tariffs are causing specific harm to American national security, including the damage done to U.S. alliance relationships and loss of leverage against China. Trump is wrong on two counts.

When it comes to trade deficits, what is Trump talking about? We consume far more than any other single nation. Naturally, we will have a trade deficit with any other nation. But we are not losing money. Using Trump's logic, I have a trade deficit with Amazon. I have given them a lot of my money. But, wait, I have received goods for that money, goods I wanted. That is why I bought them. The same is true of the goods we receive from Canada, Mexico, and the EU. We want those goods. They play a major role in our economy.

In trade, China is our main adversary. Ordinarily we should be able to enlist the help of Canada, Mexico, and the EU in our trade differences with China. But Trump has alienated those nations with brainless tariffs.

Justin Trudeau has called Trump’s tariffs “laughable” and said that his “unacceptable actions are going to harm his own citizens.” Angela Merkel has vowed to take Trump to task on trade and Iran."

Good move, Mr. President. Do you have any idea what the hell you are doing?

    I thought not.
