Please note, that Trump's guilt or innocence
    Has no bearing on this.
    People don't care.

    Agreed.

However, I strongly disagree with this:

"Freedom is more important than safety".

Note: you can't be free if you are dead, so a more nuanced statement is required, obviously...

Sometimes you have to fight and get yourself dead to be free.

This confirms Gallup's polling return of last week as well. We tried telling our leftist posters about this reality -- and also a similar result from a CNN polling -- but they wanted to crow about Trump's impeachment instead; as if public sentiment meant nothing in regards to political repercussions down the line.

Somehow they seem to think that a strictly partisan impeachment of Trump is going to elevate the Dem Party in the eyes of the nation whereas obviously the obverse is happening. People . . . voters . . . are NOT happy with the games that the Left's leadership is playing with the nation's Constitution.

Give me freedom or give me death...

Lots of things are more important than my life.

A majority of voters approve of the House of Representatives’ impeachment of Trump in the most recent poll after the hearings in the House, the POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted in the immediate aftermath of the vote.

The narrow majority who approve, 52 percent, is greater than the 43 percent who disapprove of the House voting to impeach Trump, the poll shows. Support for impeachment breaks sharply among party lines. Among Democrats, 85 percent approve of the House’s action, and only 12 percent disapprove. Approval among Republicans is only 16 percent, compared with 81 percent who disapprove.

Five percent of voters have no opinion on Trump’s impeachment. They must have just returned from Venus.

Most significantly, among independents, 48 percent approve and 41 percent disapprove.

Apparently, it is still true. Republicans generally feel that it is okay for the President to invite foreign interference in our elections for his benefit, use bribery, and obstruct the Congressional investigation of his behavior.

I wonder if they will feel the same way when President Biden does that in 2023, taking advantage of the precedent set by Trump and the Republican Senate.

The article below helped with this report.

Same philosophy as ISIS fighters ("warriors of the true God, Allah").

I hope you are not making that same mistake...

The point being. Both our freedom and our safety are to be protected by ourselves first our neighbors second our fellow citizens third. And very much lastly by our government.

My opinion with the impeachment is that Trump did not made a direct offense against the citizens of the USA, His demeanor whenever proven is purely politically motivated but still in scope is within impeachment rules.

    What mistake am I making?

    "Both freedom AND safety"?
Well, at least that's a positive change from your previous "freedom OR death" credo.

So if I understand your position correctly, individuals have to protect themselves from their fellow citizens, and nations have to protect themselves from other nations.

Question is: how to best achieve this?

Any place for poverty alleviation (poverty being associated with increased homicide rates) and ideology-illuminating education (blind cultural adherence being responsible for much violence)?

Who would have ever guessed when Trump was elected the dems would be driven to such nonsense by TDS. Are there no grown-ups in the dem party other than the one politician who just switched from dem to repub? And I thought Hillary had gone bananas but the dems have made Hillary look sane.

This has to be the most boring impeachment I lived through, Nixon was fun to watch when he resigned, Bill impeachment was a thrill ride when the blue dress was revealed..

This is like when Waldo Rivera opened up Al Capones vault on national television and found a coke can..

    Boring

This impeachment wasn't for entertainment. If Barak Obama had done identical acts, Republicans would be hanging from the ceilings screaming for his impeachment. That is the nature of cult personalities. The impeachment followed the Constitution and the Republicans rules closely and fairly. Since it was a process developed by Republicans when they were in the majority their howling about the unfairness of it all was hilariously hypocritical.

Now, from their inherent sense of fairness, the Party Of Trump has decided to conduct an openly predestined trial where the jury collaborates with the defense and denies any witnesses that may work against the defense. Is the POT kidding? Do they really believe Americans are that stupid and gullible? Their base maybe, but not most Americans. 71% of those upstanding, honest Americans want a fair trial with witnesses. QED.

I am in no way backing off the greedom or death statement. I would die to keep this countfy free as ang good American would. Yes i mean ones that wouldn't are bad Americans.

The best solution to achieve this? Build community, encourage people to be equipped and capable of defending themselves and their neighbors.
Gut the federal government so that it cannot become an oppressor and make people more self sufficient.

The poor don't need the government, they need intact families, churches and communities.

Damn right... the only reason to Make them dependent on the government is to have power over them...

The idea that these programs are somehow intended to help people os absurd. It's about controlling them, thats why the programs suck...

This was said in the tenth post.

So far Trump's fans have not wanted to deal with those two statements. Moreover, they quickly moved off the subject of Trump's impeachment, a basic part of the thread, judging by the thread title.
