A good thing for people to do is do not offer any professional real estate services at all.

Multiple sources posted in this thread from law professors and prominent attorneys have stated that the law was a consumer fraud legislation.

 

The amount of square footage included in the three story Trump penthouse is subjective based on the definition of what is included in the penthouse. Trump is free to define that area as he sees fit and publish that square footage in whatever documents he chooses with a disclaimer (which was included) that the definition of the area might be calculated differently by different entities.

 

I'm a lawyer. A very basic tenet of statutory interpretation is that plain statutory language means what it says, and does not mean what it does not say.

NOWHERE does it limit itself to consumer transactions. NOWHERE. That's an absurd interpretation. Maybe if you read anything, you'd see that.

 

Different entities measure differently? You can expand an apartment from 10k to 30k by the way you measure?

Again it depends on whether the entire area of the three floors are counted or what is normally defined as the living space. A square 60 feet on each side times three floors is ~ 11,000 square feet. A square 100 feet on each side times three floors is ~ 30,000 square feet. Regardless there is a disclaimer to cover any discrepancies.

Maybe if you actually took the time to investigate the origins and history of the legislation you would understand that the intent of the law was consumer protection and that the only times (12) that large settlements were imposed victims and damages were required. The GET TRUMP prosecutor and judge manufactured a judgment using an obscure law to GET TRUMP by using the Stalinesque process of manufacturing a crime to get the man.
