Did you just imply that 30% of a roughly trillion dollar budget is small enough that they could handle paying these folks throught "day receipts?"

You would be wrong. I've worked for 34 years straight - never taken a dime of unemployment, student loans or government assistance.
So you can take your holier-than-thou s**t and ... have a nice day.

34 years in the private sector? If so, then you probably have nothing to worry about.

    So basically,
"Well, I'm going to die anyway, might as well shoot myself in the head."

Um what? You do realize that the selling of the US's debt is very much a free market enterprise, right?

If anything, Trump forcing a government shutdown and potentially a default on the US debt (thereby throwing the global economy into a depression that would make the Great Depression look like child's play) is anti-freemarket.

And if crushing the world's economy is the freemarket way to go about things, then that's more of a case against being for a free market if anything else.

Not me, so I don't care. In fact, I will benefit from the government shutting down.

Don't worry. It'll just be a shot in the head to those who can't compete in the free market.

    No, it isn't.

Do you live on planet Earth?

If so, then odds are you will suffer like the rest of us when if the US economy explodes.

    How so?

So basically every man, woman, and child on the face of the planet?

Because virtually everyone would be hit by the US's economic collapse.

How isn't it? The US is treating debt like a commodity and selling it off to the highest bidders.

Sounds pretty free market to me.

because my profession puts me in direct competition with the government.

We can't keep borrowing money that even our grandchildren don't have a chance of paying off, so this is going to happen with Trump, or without Trump.

It isn't because the money that the treasury department borrows comes with the assurance that the government will force Americans to pay for. This is not a freely entered into agreement between two parties.

I doubt it's exempt from being impacted from a major economic collapse.

Again, just because something is inevitable, does not mean we should cause it to happen immediately.

Oh, so we're going for the taxation is theft argument? In that case, I don't really care.

Again, this is more of an argument against free market capitalism (which will pretty much never exist with or without taxation).

If the free market would cause the annihilation of the global economy, then I see no reason for it to be valued in the slightest.

Hilarious. You are expecting a five year old, who doesn't know a thing about how the government work, to tell Congress to act like "adult."

    I'm a multi-talented guy.

Well see, I have children. I hope to have grandchildren. That means I want to pay my bills rather than foist them on Belch Junior who did not have any say in the matter.

If you didn't care, you wouldn't be going nuts over the possibility that you might be asked to pay for your bills now, rather than having your grandchiuldren pay for it. I know geritol is expensive, but I also know that it is morally wrong to expect the unborn to pay for it.

We both know it's gotten to the point that the debt is a multi-generational problem, and we both know that this is incredibly twisted and an evil thing to do to future generations. The only difference between us is that I'm willing to do what is best for my children.

Of course you don't! There's no money to be had from doing the right thing. Only the wrong thing.

This episode have shown yet again that President Trump is an abject failure at negotiations. He haven't shown even to be a mediocre negotiator much less a "great" negotiator he claimed to be. With his party in control of BOTH House and Senate, they can't come to term with a budget, yet like a petulant child who pouts when he can't get his way, he took to Twitter to complain about....the Democrats??? Anyone who can defend this action is intellectually dishonest that the President is even "attempting" and getting his job done. If he wants the gov. shut down, I say tax payer refuse to pay for his trip back to Mar-A-Lago for as long as the government is shutdown. Get of the Twitter feed and start NEGOTIATING!

You have it backwards. The representatives will start distancing themselves from this fraud. They want to keep their jobs and this joker is becoming radioactive very quickly.

District by district, each GOP Congress member is deciding if Trump is helping or hurting.

Many GOP Congressman are going to have to distance themselves from this clueless imbecile if they want to retain their seats.

I find this intriguing...really. It seems people who voted for Trump loves him....except when they don't. They don't necessarily agrees with every point of his agenda, just the one's that is of interest to them. Thus, when he wants to enact his agenda, they run for the hills. Honestly, ask the coal miners how many of them would be willing to give up pre-existing condition coverage. Or how many old people wants their Medicare cut. How many border towns really wants to wall to be built risking losing businesses and properties.

    Well said and absolutely.

Trump (and his supporters) certainly has/have given America one of the most interesting paradoxes ever.

So, is it still possible this deal can get blocked by congress? It seems Trump is aiming for it, due to the statement that the deal includes money for his wall after all. They might not be allowed to build "new" wall, but it is possible to replace or maintain existing wall, which means they still get to start fortifying parts of the existing wall. Seems to me Trump hopes the democrats pull out after all which would mean a shutdown could be placed on their heads. I wonder what the reactions will be from republicans alike. Not all republicans want to see that wall built either. He's also jeopardicing the deal they made earlier.
