Trump praises Duterte's deadly drug war in leaked transcript

Two things no one seems to be considering:

Did Trump know Duterte was extrajudicially killing people? (i havnt seen any evidence that he did, but even if he did...)

...Is giving lip service to a foreign leader who may be engaged in democidal atrocities but has the political clout to influence international politics to the benefit of our nation good politics or bad?

Is Duterte doing anything that China or Saudi Arabia doesnt do? I certainly dont think Duterte is a 'good guy' but we have to pick our battles, and (for those that *did* read the transcript) theres a *lot* more going on than Trump stroking Dutertes ego. The phone call was about North Korea and Duterte putting pressure on China to reign in the NK gremlin whos firing rockets all over the damn place so we can avoid turning millions of people into a sea if glass FFS.

Wrong. First I'm not Republican. Nor did I demonize you nor anyone else. I characterized generalizations in psychiatric terms that are on the mark. The fact you can't respond to that without resorting to a 'I didn't do that but you do' ridiculous statement is telling. It's more healthy to respond to someone's remarks even if they are confrontational rather than resorting to flipping the criticism.

Meanwhile Duterte has declared Martial law in the south and told the soldiers they can rape three women each.

 

Duterte has killed about 7,000 since he told citizens they can kill addicts, drug dealers and their families. Trump invited him to the White House.

 

Is there a quote from a reputable source that says this? I've heard it reported he said people could kill the dealers but not the rest.

Trump is attempting to get other countries leaders (be they good *or* bad) to push China to aid in keeping North Korea in check so we can avoid a military confrontation.

Why not? The Phillipines is strategically located in Chinas major shipping lanes and is heavily entwined in their trade with the US. The phillipines have always been an important dynamic on the global stage- just look at how much of WW2 was fought there.

now you're either being moronic or disingenuous. NK has nukes. They may not have ICBMs (or they might) but they do have subs and satelites THAT MIGHT HAVE NUKES ON BOARD. One satelite with a warhead could take out our power grid for YEARS.

Did you even read the article? He declared the southern part of the Phillipines where Muslim separatist have been staging terrorists attacks...under martial law, there have been armed conflicts with this predominately Muslim community.

And just a by the way, Australia has internment camps for undesirable refugees on pacific islands and refuses to relocate them...Sounds like an interment camp to me. If these people made it onto the mainland I'm sure Australia would also respond similarly to the Phillipines.

Martial law is justified.. Telling the soldiers that he will take full responsibility if they rape no more than three women each is something else. Read about him.. Pick any sources you think are credible.

 

I suggest you research this area as there are UN sanctions as well as several US presidents/administrations having tried to reign soldier boy in. Because all the prior sanctions etc have failed this administration is tasked with stopping NK from weaponizing ICBMs. Not only the entire region but really the world is at risk. HI and Alaska are particularly vulnerable to EMPs and at some point so will the entire USA if he's not stopped.

Not to mention his people are starving and being put in concentration camps the likes of what have not been seen since Siberia and WWII.

I'd worry more about that than other things that seems to preoccupy some.

 

What Duterte said was disgusting but he also said it was because he was angry at her death...I am constantly astounded by those on the left who say we have to be tolerant of other cultures beliefs and customs....Yet they judge on their own cultures biases...So I ask, how many of you have ever been to the Phillipines? Life is cheap there, I could have you killed for a $100 today, all I need is your picture...Back in the 80's it would only take $20. Do you know you can walk into a bar and order a blowjob as easily as a drink, and about the same price. They have something down there called "the smile game", I won't explain it because those who have been there know what I am talking about.

So the only reason this has become an issue is to use it to criticize Trump.

I don't have to look at sources, I've been to the Phillipines...women are treated like property, young girls sold into slavery (sex slaves) because the family wanted a boy...You all seem to think the US should support sharia law in Muslim communities but then condemn the rapes of enemy combatants and their family...Sorry I haven't heard you condemn ISIS or Boko Harem this way for the same reasons...

So the only conclusion I can come to is that this is an excuse to bash Trump.

 

Ok, I read it. Everyone agrees he was joking which is repugnant in and of itself. He has no filter obviously. But he also stated he would tolerate no abuses so as disgusting as the joke was he didn't really mean it. Post about HIS behavior and not associate him with someone else including Trump. That's beyond unreasonable.
