Gerrymandering is constitutional simply because it does not state that the states can not draw their own lines. The system works and I for one also believe that if we were to go off of a populace vote for all then we would also disenfranchise small towns and states that have small populations. This system is perfect because it allows everyone to have a voice.

If we were to go off of popular vote people who’s lives are dramatically different from one another would have no representation in any level of governance.

I’ll use farming and ranching as an example. Who would represent them? Sure people will argue they will have representation but how? When city people (where the majority of people reside) elect based off of their life experience those who live a completely different life won’t only be ignored but they will be put into political slavery. Carl Marx was no idiot but he was used to things being handed to him. The same ideological perception can be made about city people who all they had to do to get food is go to a grocery store after a week of pay.

I’m not diminishing that either, but they won’t elect people who help them get water rights, who will help them keep land inexpensive to grow their farms and cattle, or help them from being over run by big farms and ranches. They also won’t elect people who understand that we use AR’s quite effectively against varmints that cause destruction to our crops or cattle. The views are so different that the only real tie they have is our countries flag. Likewise Carl Marx was frustrated by farming because he never found a great way to socialize food and it’s production.

allowing a popular vote will destroy these small town industries that are vital yet little understood in the whole populace. I’m very anti pure democracy.

small town america began its decline long ago

most small towns have only a post office

a small town near me has only a bank and post office..

dollar general has taken over any mom and pop businesses in small town america

I do not think for one minute the farmers are not represented politically

the rich farmers in this area opened their own bank about 10 years go

their biggest expenses is political donations ..and they make plenty of donations to be represented

the only poor farmers are "poor farmers" poor farmers are not good bookkeepers

the American farmers have so much money they keep it a secret

their fathers and grandfathers worked hard and made a living

once roundup was introduced, the farmer no longer needed labor

the wealthy farmers buy HUGE toys such as combines and tractors

they use the equipment a few months a year and certainly will not pay someone to drive their toys

profits have soared, labor was deleted, and crop insurance prevents them from having a bad year

a farmers kid that lives down the road is a junior in high school

he drives an $80,000 dollar pickup truck to school every day

dont worry about small town america...
