President Donald Trump said the federal government will remain shut down unless there is an agreement on some type of border wall or fence.

“I can’t tell you when the government is going to reopen … [Not until] we have a wall, a fence, whatever they’d like to call it. I’ll call it whatever they want. But it’s all the same thing. It’s a barrier from people pouring into our country,” Trump said https://stream.org/trump-says-government-shutdown-will-continue-theres-wall/ I hope Trump stands by that. I’m all for keeping that partial shutdown all the way to September 30, 2019 if they won’t provide support for part of the wall. No wall no end to the shutdown.

Hang in there Mr. President! Keep it shutdown until they fund the wall. We support you to the max on this.

I wonder when the border control guys will start quitting and go looking for a job. Do you think they will go thru February or maybe March?

I don't think government shutdowns are the way to pass new legislation. Congress needs to vote on the wall and the wall alone. If there aren't enough votes, then wait until the next election for the people to vote in new representatives.

    Yep.
I think Mrs. Nancy is going to introduce a clean CR and sent it to the Senate.
Will it pass? I think it might.

Trump doesn't need to sign the bill; if he doesn't veto it within 10 days, it automatically becomes law.

Budget bills should only pass existing budgets and not include radical new legislation. If we need bills to pass easier then reduce the number of votes to bring to the Senate floor to 50 with no other requirements for both houses.

That would be a disaster. Laws would be passed and repealed every few years.

Well, at least laws will be passed. It will allow the people more power to actually pick people who will actually get things done.

A better fix would be to require a bill passed by one chamber be brought up for a vote in the other so a leader could not block legislation.

There is nothing radical about this.

Its an extension of barriers already built and should be part of the budget. Its part of border security.

We don't pass stand alone bills when we develop a new aircraft.

I think the wall should be passed along with other immigration proposals that give both sides something they want. Generally it works best when we keep out controversial new proposals out of basic funding bills so we can keep the government open. We can always debate immigration separately, and if no compromise can be reached, we can let the people decide who they agree with more.

That might work as a compromise, but usually the other house modifies the bill, and that is the part that stops many bills in their tracks.

It will need 2/3 vote in both houses to override a well deserved veto.

If it became an issue there are plenty of Americans who would fund a go fund me page for the Border Patrol.

Unlike Democrats who want to abolish ICE, we support our law enforcement.

Most Americans do not agree with open border Democrats who want anyone and everyone to be able to come and go unchecked and unregulated.

No Nation can survive without borders and the America hating democrats know this and are trying to destroy our borders.

"Most Americans" know Democrats don't favor open borders (only Trumpies think otherwise) that's why the wall doesn't poll well.
Besides. Why would you shut down our government over funding a wall Mexico is going to pay for.

But CBS News polling from mid-November found that a majority -- 59 percent of Americans -- oppose building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. It's a partisan issue, though. A large majority of Republicans support the wall -- 79 percent. A majority of independents -- 66 percent -- oppose the wall, and 84 percent of Democrats are also against it.

Democrats who entice more illegal immigration by offering health care and sanctuary cities to operate out of and hire them to duck the taxes they pass on the American people, Are the last people who will be for a secure border.

If you believe that sanctuary city sanctuary state health care and benefits for illegal immigrants democrats aren't for open borders than you are just dumb.
