Wow, just did a bit of searching (in other words I typed it into google ..... lol) about cable news and their performance.

I knew that the beginning of June had the news ratings showing FOX had once again basically claimed to be the winner in everything, but man, did you guys see the other networks like CNN?

CNN lost 35% of it's Prime Time viewers in a one year period.

HOLY BAJEEZUS, that is a MASSIVE loss for a one year stretch. Does this mean that Trumps "war against the media is winning?

Since FOX posted a +9% in the same category, it seems like that actually might be the case.

 

To be optimistic, maybe this means 1 in 3 CNN viewers realized CNN was politicised bullsh*t, which is good news.

 

I find it odd that Trump has such a hardon for CNN when it's MSNBC which is nipping at Fox's heals. Fox has twice as many viewers as CNN, but only a quarter more than MSNBC's, clearly the voice of the DNC. Does Trump and his fans think driving CNN into MSNBC's camp benefits him?

Agreed it's a massive loss. I think they hurt themselves trying to emulate Fox and MSNBC instead of just presenting the news.

 

Considering total viewership of cable news channels is tiny -- Fox averages just 1.4 million viewers a day -- who really cares about any of this?

 

The only thing MSNBC is nipping at is bankruptcy.

 

With 25% more viewers than CNN? Shall we bet on that? A contribution to the forum, of course.

I always have seen MSNBC as the Counter to FOX...NOT CNN....CNN is its own thing. People on here may want to claim CNN is some vast liberal crazy network but MSNBC is the real counter and left leaning counter to Fox.

 

Agreed which is why I'm curious about Trump's fanatical obsession with CNN and not MSNBC. Same for his fans.

 

Thank you for being honest enough to include the 25-54 demographic and not total numbers. It's my observation that most members of this forum are over 54.

Note that MSNBC's prime time numbers in that demographic are better than CNN's.

It is CNN who has blatantly acted like the Democrats' propaganda arm. It was CNN's political commentator (Brazile) who gave presidential debate questions to Hillary in advance. It was CNN's Anderson Cooper who was a dick to Trump when Cooper was a presidential debate moderator. It is CNN who has had to retract fake news stories. It is CNN with the rudest most disrespectful and disruptive White House press reporters. Jim Acosta is CNN. It was CNN with the over-the-top reaction to the silly anti-CNN wrestling meme resulting in #CNNblackmail. It was CNN who had to walk back the lie about Trump calling illegals animals when he really meant MS-13, but they took it out of context.

CNN has earned every criticism being flung at them, imho.

I agree with you in part. Trumps rants against the media are only on the basis of their personal attacks against him - and has little to do with the real and systemic issues within the MSM.

That does not change the fact that the MSM in general is "fake news" - a propaganda machine of the establishment.

So the claim "the press is real enemy of the people" is absolutely true - just not for the reasons Trump gives.

 

Why is the media to be completely believed when they are "exposing" trump, but when ever there is a mass shooting we always here people claim the media twists the plight of the shooter. Black shooter = thug. Middle eastern = Terrorist. White/Asian = mental illness. When it comes to protests or riots, same activists of decrying the media point out that black riots after the death of Michael Brown were by thugs. But when they show riots/celebrations after college or pro team winning championship its because they are immature or rambunctious. But there is no "bias" when it comes to the way they portray Trump right? There is no agenda against Trump? Yet, from a survey of what political affiliation do the reporters subscribe to, 4 times as many of them claim to be democrat than republican.

I am just pointing out the hypocrisy, and showing that more reporters have a bias than most people care to believe when it comes to how they portray Trump.
