Trump says US may host next G7 at Trump National Doral Golf Resort

This is symptomatic of Trump's corruption. He is floating the idea of using his government role to direct untold revenues into his own pocket.

And it won't stop with the end of the G7. If this happens, you can be damn sure that the various residences / suites will be marketed as "The French Residence" or the "The Prime Minister's Suite".

I have to say that I am really disappointed with the press for not investigating Trump's corruption further. I would like to know exactly how much money the federal government spent at Trump businesses before he became president, and since. It would be nice to be able to put a number on the scale of his corruption.

I wonder if / how Trump supporters will defend the idea of holding the G7 at a Trump property?

Anywhere that does not give rise to a conflict of interest obviously!

 

As truth and justice says, anywhere that doesn’t give rise to a conflict of interest.

The hosts have the opportunity to choose a location that fits with the theme of the conference that they want to focus on. If Trump wants to focus on manufacturing he chooses a place that suits that theme. Or maybe a secluded location where they can get real work done with fewer distractions.

If he chooses Doral, his message will be that corruption is ok and that he puts his own financial interests ahead of the country.

That won’t be new - just confirming what we all know.

Seriously though, Doral in Miami is in the direct flight path of Miami Intl. At only about a mile west of the runway this would make for an easy target of terrorism.

Trump's claim that "nowhere even comes close" to Doral is patently ridiculous. He is trying to shovel taxpayer money into his own pocket.

The pictures of that place look amazing. I'd love to attend a conference there.

Sure there aren't massive amounts of homeless people like San Fran...but it's still a nice place.

 

It was announced in July that the resort put a bid in to host it. That’s old news. It’s up to State to decide where to host it. Miami was already picked as the city.

 

Are you ok with Trump using his office to promote his personal business holdings? I thought there were laws precluding him or anyone else from doing that. Doral, like many of Trump’s past holdings is headed for the tank like The Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza and several of his other resort properties.

Are you implying that Trump did not give the go ahead for the bid from his own company? Who chose Miami and who will have the final say, specifically, on where to host it? The US has become a corrupt country fully condoned by the President's supporters

If he were acting ethically, he would not permit his properties to bid on any government business.

 

doral is actually quite nice, i've been there. But any location they pick is going to be owned by somebody.

Maybe we compromise and just have the army set up a tent city in the woods, that way there is no possible conflict.

 

The "possible conflict" arises ONLY for Trump-owned properties. All he has to do is say that his properties are barred from bidding on those contracts, and the issue goes away.
